Carrier I would like to be able to carry kuma in a puppy sling while we are out an about places that he can't walk. How do I get him acclimated to the sling? He loved it when he was smaller but then he had an ear infection and to clean and treat his ears we had to mummy wrap him :( now he is terrified of being wrapped up and I feel so bad. How do I make him feel safe again? |
Hi! Instead of the sling which is pretty snug, maybe you can try a little backpack carrier. I have one for Jada, you wear it on your chest like a real baby carrier and your dog just sits in it. You can also clip their collar in for safety but it's pretty roomy. How much does your dog weigh? My dog loves it, the one she has is called outward hound. Google it and you can see pics of it. |
That happened to Joel when he had earmites, we had to lay him on his side and hold him down to put meds in his ears so then he didn't like to be put on his side for brushing or whatever. But to get him used to it I would lay him on his side just to pet and cuddle him and he's getting better with practice. So maybe you could try that with the sling, put him in it and carry him to the kitchen and give him something good like meat:) |

I have this sling: Buy Outward Hound Sling-Go Pet Sling & More | drugstore.com I use it when we go shopping in Vancouver and are going to be walking all day. It's nice and compact and doesn't take any effort to carry it. I let the dogs walk until they get tired, and then I can carry them when they want. It's nice and big and doesn't seem confining to me. |
