need help, dogs barking too much!!! Hello, I have a small problem. I have 3 yorkies and I just got a complain from the landlord that they are barking way too much when I am gone. They bark if they see any people by the drive way or if they hear people in the hallway. I would like to know if anyone has had the same problem, if so what did you do? Is there any device that I can buy that may help? I'm not interested in any collars. Any help will be highly appreciated! :animal-pa |
thats difficult if your not home. other than shutting all the shades and keeping them gated off from the area where they can here neighbors walking by...thats going to be difficult if your not home to correct them. sorry i wish i could offer a solid solution. |
How long are you gone during the day? Maybe put them in a kennel together |
Can you crate them when you're not there? I have the opposite problem, Dexter doesn't bark when he's alone (I've asked the neighbours), he only barks when we're in to warn us of every, single sound/danger there is. All the time. Any advice for getting him to stop that would be most appreciated! |
I have 3 also....that bark when they see someone walk by...but, we have our own home. as someone sad....try keeping them blocked (together) in a room away from where they will see or hear people....try leaving a radio on in the room they are in so there will already be noise...may distract them from the outside noise. I hope you can figure out a solution...especially if people are complaining. |

I agree. Leave the radio on when you're out, it should help to block out the other noises that make him bark. |
At home, I don't know if mine bark or not when I'm gone. However, when I travel, I always bring my sound machine and I put their kennel right beside the machine and I have the white noise as loud as it will go. I also leave the tv on low just so they are hearing some sounds.. and hopefully not too alerted if they hear anyone in the hall. So far, it has worked beautifully! |
I would try leaving a radio or tv on while your away and see if that could possibly help. |
Try this... Comfort ZoneŽ Plug-In for Dogs | DrsFosterSmith.com I ordered this and heard it works well so going to try. Gracie, my (almost) 15 week old Yorkie doesn't really bark. She barks/whines when she gets up in the morning and wants out of her room, goes upstairs and then wants to come back down -- she is too little still to go down the stairs, or barks when she is playing with my other dog. She doesn't bark at people or noises. |
I think the idea of leaving the tv or radio on is a good one. Also, is it possible to just keep them in your bedroom or something so that instead of having the run of the whole apartment, they are only in one room. They might feel less inclined to do so much "protecting" is that were the case... |
