yorkie will not use potty pads Hello Yorkie lovers, I recently adopted a 3 yr old male Yorkie. He is precious and brings me a lot of joy. When I first got him, he used his potty pads when I had to go to work. Then when I came home, the first thing that I would do would be to take him out to potty. He was real good for about 3 weeks. Now for reason that I do not know or understand, he is voiding all over the house. I have caught him sleeping now on the potty pads. I bought a child-guard gate and hooked it up to one of the doors in the bigger bathroom. I have placed the potty pad on one end of the bathroom and have put his food and water on the other end of the room which is about 8'. He is large for his size, or for a yorkie, and he managed to knock down the gate and once again proceeded to pee everywhere. There is furniture in my house that I haven't used much, and he has now peed on it and it is ruined. Please help me. Please give me some advice. I love this little guy and I don't want to get rid of him. I give him lots of love and we go for walks and we play together with his toys. He has ruined my love seat and my recliner. I don't know what to do. Thanks, Sarah my email is g_beaugot49@yahoo.com |
I can understand your frustrations with this situation & hope someone on here with an older yorkie can offer some advice on this. I've had my 3 month old male yorkie for over a month so I can't offer too much advice on this matter but has he gone to the vet & been checked out? I think it's odd he was doing so good & now he is just going everywhere!! Remember to try to keep calm & not yell though because they don't respond to that sort of thing....:/ Hope he is okay & hope a more knowledgeable yorkie owner can help you. Good Luck! |
Assuming you are feeding him on the same schedule, and since he was doing fine and now not so, I'd taking him in to check for a UTI. Peeing out his schedule can indicate something is wrong. I used to use pads also, and I liked that I could see the color of the pee, and if it were dark in color or had some red, you would know there is a problem. But peeing in grass or on furniture or carpet, you can't tell what the color is. |
Mine too have peed on my couch and ruined it! Hopefully someone can offer some advice as to why they would pee on furniture...I certainly don't understand it! |
