Pooping off the pad... Cisco is doing really well at whizzing (wee-wee-ing) on his pads with just a miss or 2 since I got him last saturday. Thing is, he has never pooped on a pad. He has never pooped in the same spot twice either. When i see him about to poop, i will rush to get him, say no, and place him on a pad, but then he holds it until he can 'sneak it out' when my attention is somewhere else. Is there something i should do that im unaware of? :rolleyes: TIA |
Same Problem I'm having the exact same difficulties with my 9 week old yorkie. Of course I don't expect for him to be completely house trained at this age, but he's pretty good about peeing on the pad. So why not number 2? I've noticed your post has been here for a while without any replies, I wish I had an answer for you. Maybe someone else knows what's going on, and how to correct this behavior? :confused: :aimeeyork |
maxi knows to wiz on her wee wee pad, but she can't poop on it either! i dont' know why that is... :confused: i've seen her poop on her pad about 3 times total and she is 10 months old. :( i really don't know what makes her poo on her pad. the few times she's done it i think it was a brand new pad.. when i try to lay a pad where she usually poops (in front of the fridge) she will go pee on it instead. :confused: |
my little Oakley has the same issue. he'll pee on the pad, step off it, then go find another place to poop. waiting to hear if any of you have tips! thanks in advance! |
I had the same issues with my Rocky, but then I switched to a litter box for his pooping and the wee wee pads for his peeing. (Not cost effective, but it seems to work.) After getting him used to the litter box (by taking him there the first few times I saw him poop), he never poops anywhere else (unless he has an upset stomach or the very rare accident). However, Rocky started having issues with the wee wee pad. While we are at home, he pretty much remembers to go on the wee wee pad. But when we are out of the house and he's in his play pen (kitchen blocked off with baby gate), he will without fail pee on the floor. Go figure! I think it's his way of getting back at me for keeping him in the kitchen and not being around ... I get bummed about it, but will keep on trying ... |
Welcome to the life of being owned and operated by a Yorkie :D I have 12 so believe me I sing the same blues. Do your Terrorist prefer to go #2 in the same spot everytime? I would be smarter than they by placing another pad there. If the poop at random, I'll have to get back with you when I invent the solution :confused: :eek: :D |
Chester does the same thing he is just over 3 yrs old and has pooped on a pad maybe three times, its like they cant poop and pee even close together unless there are alot of pads down. |
Cover your whole house with pads! lol Just kidding. I have 4 pups now, and they still poop and pee everywhere. I thought I was smart, I had their bed, then pee station, then play station. Welllll.... they get out of bed, walk out of the pee station, and pee and poo in the play station! No Idea. Not to mention, they think their pee pads are shredding items. lol |

I do have to coax him though...when he starts the 'poop sniff shuffle' off the pad i say "no." and point to the pad. When he gets to the pad I say "potty". My girls have two pads....one for peeing and one for pooping. I know it seems like that wont make a difference..but it really does. For whatever reason they dont want to poop in the same place they pee! I also have to tell you that since I switched to the washable pads....it has been WONDERFUL! No shredding....no leaking....and no misses!!! Worth every penny!! |

I'm interested in the washable pads too, don't recall seeing any at any of my local stores. Also, what do you use for litter box traing? You don't use cat litter do you? Or do you? :) I am interested in that! I heard that you can make your own indoor poo-poo spot by making wood or using a plastic (big) litter box pan and planting sod, grass, etc in it. I heard this is good for those with limited yard space and for just about anyone (reinforces the idea of going in the same spot outside too). Anyone tried that? Jenn & Mojo |
Too funny, but not funny LOL!!! All 3 of mine do the same thing. Bounce never poops on the potty pad, he poops wherever his little heart desires. Romeo & Isabella have pooped on the potty pad but not very often. At least they poop on the tile close to the potty pad well 90% of the time. Oh well, you gotta love them. I don't mind, I just hate for others to see. I'm thinking can't you do that when others aren't watching LOL!!!!!!!!!!! |
My Zoe has been an angel to potty train. I feel like I didn't even train him. He pees and poops on one pad. However, I can not get him to come, sit and stay for anything! |
