Hardwood & pee pads Does anyone have their pee pads place on hardwood, does it damage the floors at all? Should a mat be placed under? We are building a new house and I was trying to think where the best place for the pads would be. Thanks. |
great question, i am getting wood floors someday soon and i would like to know the answer too. |
you didn't want to keep it in the kitchen or the bathroom? when i'm at my parents, i keep the potty pad in their kitchen and one in the living room. i put newspaper under the one in the living room. bunjee sometimes misses by a little bit and it'll leak under the pad. so i think having a mat underneath the potty pad would be best. |
If it's the Fake stuff it won't bother them , but if it is REAL Hardwood it will definately screw them up unless they are sealed VERY well. I KNOW!!!!!! You can either use plastic or rubber mats. You can get clearplastic off rolls in most hardware stores for like 99 cents a linear foot. OR you can get rubber placemats at places like Home depot. They are usually Grey and about 3ft. by 3ft. They are called.. LOL.. I forget but they are the grey pad cushions for that you can by and intrelock to make bigger areas. They are like$12 each and you can wipe or hose off. Just put the pee pads right on top. |
i use the wee pad holder that have a bottom to them so no pp can get out from the bottom of the pad.. is that good?. |
I have hardwood floors and have had no problems - although I do change them often - I also have in the past left an old towel under the pad if I'm worried. Never had any problems - it's been over 1 year for my floors like this. |
I'm always scared of that too...I want hardwood floors, but I'm afraid that they'd be ruined because sometimes, a little pee goes off the side of the pads. |
OMG! I would place a large mat under the pee pads. These guys can miss at times and if pee can soak into concrete, you can bet your bottom dollar it will soak into your hardwood floors!!!!!!! |
just make sure the hardwood floors are sealed very well and you will be fine. If its sealed correctly you will haev waterproof floors well urine can't seep in. use a couple of coat to seal it in real nice. |
