Pee Pad Quality Can anyone tell me if one puppy pee pad is better than another? Or are they all just about the same thing? I've never used them before and want to try them with my next puppy. What brand should I buy? Trish  |
I have gone thru 3 bags and used a different kind each time. I would say go for the cheapest. good luck |
Thanks, that's kind of the direction I was thinking of going in, but was just wondering if one was more absorbent, etc... Can they be reused for awhile? |
My baby Lola, I finally decided on a name...I think! may be a heavy wetter but I go through at least 2 a day. I clean poop off of it but let her wet on it several times before discarding it. |
I heard the WeeWee Brand is the best?? I haven't used that Kind yet, plan to get them and try when I run out of the ones I have.... So Not sure if this is true or not. |
I think they are all the same. Wee wee pads are good but they are one of the more expensive. I use the economy pack from Petsmart, it comes with 100 pads for $23.00. |

someone in the products forum posted this: www.dhmedical.com they have 300 wee-wee pads for $33 plus shipping. it's actually underpads for adult incontinence. the underpads and pet potty pads are bascially the same except the human ones doesn't have the "special scent" that attracts puppies to the potty pads. i got a $6 bottle of potty training aid and spray it on every pad i put down anyways. the petsmart ones is suppose to have "super absorbancy", not sure how many oz that is, but the underpads have moderate absorbancy , which is about 8 oz/1cup of liquids, more than enough for a puppy of a yorkie's size and stature. my bunjee will go pee on the pad a few times before he starts to go off the pad. he finds a different corner to go every time. his poo i can pick up with tp and flush it down the toilet, unless it's runny, then it goes down the trash chute immediately in a plastic bag. nowadays, i'll go through 2 pads a day. but a friend of mine has a puppy who will refuse to go again on a soiled potty pad. so she goes through A LOT until the pup learned to go outside. there are also washable and reusable potty pads, but i never looked into those 'cause i'm too prissy to launder poop and pee in my washing machine. :p |
i am the one who posted the adult wee pads 300 for 33 dollars. i think its a great deal if it works.. i havent ordered them yet but probably will.. |
That is a great deal, 300 for $33. I guess I will order those next. Thanks for the tip. |
I use the Jump Start brand from PetSmart. They worked wonderfully when I was training Cali. No kidding , she was using the pads about 80% of the time the first week and by the time she was 14 weeks old she was 99% trained on them. They are expensive 50 for 28.00 so I think I am going to try switching to cheaper ones. |
Mine don't seems to bother with the quality so I don't research for the quality ones . |
Thanks for all your great ideas! I've taken notes so I know where to shop...I like Patti's idea of a good pad like 'Jump Start' if it helps to get them started right and then switching to cheaper one. Will let you know how it works, now I just need to get the puppy.....soon, I hope, waiting for breeder. |
I got a lot of them on EBay with my last dog - and they're just fine. I see them on EBay now --- 200 for $14 (didn't notice what shipping was). Some of these are irregulars - but so what! - we are talking about pee pads. Carol Jean |
carol jean, i actually went to check ebay first and saw those. they the irregulars on ebay were 23x24 in dimension, 200 for $14 plus $26 shipping to CA (5 day UPS ground, the cheapest shipping option) for a total of $40. the ones i ordered from dhm are 17x24 in dimension, 300 for $34 plus $15 shipping to CA (UPS ground, also cheapest shipping option) for a total of $49. so for me, with the shipping, the slightly smaller potty pads were a better deal. i hope that's all i'll need for a long long time!!! |
i use the reuseable Pooch pads i bought the huge one that fits in a suv in the back and it's the XXL size for 49.99 the size is 48x48 it was huge but what i did was cut it in half and sewed them closed and made two of them it works great for my 3 little ones. I use to use the other ones but they would just wet through them and tear them up. this is a great pad i would recommend it. saves u money. http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...=1134383823773 |
