FINALLY! Successful teeth brushing!!! I just wanted to comment on teeth brushing. I took Brody to the vet last week for his eyes, and they told me his tartar is really bad. SO i've been really trying to brush his teeth (and Sophia's). I was having a lot of problems letting me actually brush (with my finger or a toothbrush). They would run from me and hide behind their daddy:( So last week, I saw Brody relaxing on a pillow. I came up to him with a baby toothbrush, and he did GREAT!!! I brushed for at least a minute, and not even a squirm!!! I've been doing this everyday since. His teeth are already looking better and his breath is smelling great!! I've been doing this with Sophia too, and WOW i'm impressed!!! They still won't let me approach them in the middle of the day to brush, but as long as they're tired... I can get a good brush in! I'm SOOOOO happy!! I hope to be able to brush them NOT when they're tired one day.. but this is a good start!! I'm SOOO excited and just wanted to share! Maybe this will help some other moms who are struggling with teeth brushing! |
Where there is a will, there is a way!!!! Persistance...persistance...persistance... |
I have been doing the exact same thing! Cooper hates brushing his teeth but I found that if I do it first thing in the morning while he's still in bed he can tolerate it a little more. |
that is great. thankfully oscar loves having his teeth brushed. also likes to chew on the toothbrush.. |
brushing well my Bella is 2 yrs and when I got her from the previous owner I found out they had never brushed her teeth so you can imagine how she behaves when I try I get so frustrated. So this morning I bathed her and busted out her toothbrush and sure enough she ran away. I've tried bribing her giving her treats complimenting her what else can I do PLEASE HELP!!:( |
Congrats on the tooth brushing victory! Brody will feel better with a fresher mouth and im sure Sophie will appreciate it too! We did teeth brushing in steps in the beginning. I started when Trixie was relaxed but tored and would put the toothpaste on her teeth with my finger then after she got used to it i would put the paste on the brush and lt her chew it after a while i would brush increasing the time and brushing every few days. Now every night before bed she comes in the bAthroom to get her teeth done. Be patient andgood luck! |
My boy has terrible teeth, so I am saving for the operation to clean them. I haven't attempted any brushing myself yet, the vet didn't even suggest it. I do like the idea of better breath though! |
Mine never lays down long enough |
