MaxYorkieBear | 05-15-2012 02:54 PM | Advice on aggression towards humans and dogs We've added a new addition to our little family and were were wondering if there were any other tips on how to handle a puppy that is pretty aggressive... She has a few triggers which we've been working on including if you touch her paw, face, if you take her bone, go near food....etc... We've been easing our hand into her bowls and touching her face more and doing all the things she doesnt like to let her know it will be ok and treat her and shes slowly getting better... she bares teeth sometimes as a warning but a lot of the time she just snaps. shes a puppy.. only about 24 weeks old... She's bitten Lilo already (who was doing nothing) and drew blood on her leg so i do keep a close eye on them both... I bring her in the bag around town while im out and watch her face to see if there is anything else she doesnt like and shes done well so far with the new noises and people and places .... we are also pretty sure she came from a puppy mill since her original owner bought her from a pet store... is there anything else we can do to help her? she's very sweet and affectionate otherwise its just her first response when she doesn't like something is to snap and bite. |
