Clicker Training Do any of you use a clicker to train your yorkie? I have read they are clever, and good to train, and I would be keen to try a clicker.....? |
Yes, Molly is clicker trained. There are some very good videos on YouTube. I haven't used the clicker in months. I slowly stopped using it as Molly could do without it. |
Yup :) LOVE clicker training; although we don't use the actual clicker a lot anymore. We've developed a really good communication skills between us, so it's not entirely necessary. I really need to make a new video, but here's from about a year and a half ago... all positive reinforcement! |
Ooh yey! Love the video. My Ellington is 5, but new to me, so once he is settled in I would love to start training him. |
OMG!!!! you and Jackson is so great and what a great video!!! made me smile and so smart boy!!! I learn that we can really train our yorkies!!! Thank you for post the video! |
I use clicker training with kenzi and she learned so fast, ive trained other family dogs without and what took a few days to do with them took only minuites with the clicker (although my dog might just be a genius lmao jk) kikopup on youtube shows how to use the clicker and positive reinforcement shes absolutly amazing with her dogs and has taught me alot just by watching her videos. hope this helps :D |
The clicker is GREAT! After she learns the action really well I quit using it & rely on verbal and/or hand signals. Then when learning something new start using it again. Yorkies are very good at learning tricks. I guess anything to keep those treats a coming. |
Clicker training is the best!!!! I am using it with my little poodle right now, and it is soooo quick!!! This is by far the easiest and most effective of any tye of training I have ever used with any of my other dogs in the past!!!!! |
Amazing! how old are they when they should start learning these tricks? is it too soon if he's 11 weeks old? |
I use the clicker with Teaka on occasion. She learns so fast with it. I think its the treat that comes after it that really motivates her. She knows: Sit, down, focus, stay, come. We're learning 'drop it' at the moment. That might take a while. Shes possessive over her toys. Shes 3 but I find it much easier to train her with the clicker than just my voice and hand motions alone. I just need to find a very very low calorie teeny tiny treat that I can give her afterward. That she'll actually eat. Any ideas? |
You could cut up green beans as a treat if she'll eat those. I cut the little Bill-Jack treats in half to use. |
