Housetraining! So Sophia is officially housetrained :thumbup: It's been a few months since an accident Working on Brody now. He hasn't pooped inside since the 2nd day he's been with us, peeing is the problem. He'll have no accidents for 2 or 3 days, then one day he'll have like 4 . Then it repeats! Any suggestions?!? |
He may be feeling a bit insecure yet? Marking may give him a sense of belonging, or claiming his territory. Peek was doing this for a while so I started giving him more attention... and the accidents decreased in number... my girls tend to overrun the house and he gets to feeling like I don't see him bc they're always in everybody's face, lol. So I made a point to single him out and give him extra special mommie time... above and beyond our normal interactions. I do think this has helped. |
Sophia is always in Brody's zone lol. He gets a lot of extra lovin', but I'll give him some extra extra special time! It's worth a shot! |
Good advice from kjc. Max is a little over 5 months and he hasn't had an accident in a week or so. I take him out about every hour and a half when he is not in his crate. I am hoping that he won't start marking when he matures. Maybe it will help that your girl is fully trained now. Are you crate training? |
Way to go Max! I can tell when Brody needs to go and take him out, it just seems like he has some bad days! They go in crates when neither my bf and I are home, but it's really not that often. |

Today, My husband was home with him (not keeping a close eye) and he grabbed the toilet paper, ran with it across the hall and toilet papered the living room with the entire roll. So...I was thinking that maybe he was trying to clean up sneaky messes that husband never caught since he doesn't watch him. Wish I had seen it though. hehe Congrats on training your girl. It will come in time. :) |
Max toilet papered your house?! I didn't realize they began acting like teenagers so young! When Sophia and Brody aren't being watched carefully, they get to the hamper and go running around with mommas undies  |
Great news about your gals success with house training !!  Now for Brody, you really do need to watch him like a hawk...the tiniest drink of water will mean a trip out to potty ! If he does not go, take him right to his cage and wait a few minuites and than back out to go potty again. This works every time. (a cage is really a great tool when it comes to potty training) One good think is that your gal Sophia will be a great help showing him what to do. Take them out together and let him smell her puddle. From my experience with multiples they will normally go right where the other left off. |

Nope it's totally normal...! LOl.... that is so funny ! = ) Stick with your routine try not to change anything until both pups are totally potty trained. You will find that it may get easier now that Sophia is trained. Give it a few more days and see how things go. Plus try to use the cage a little more to help get him trained. If your busy he will be totally fine in his cage until he wakes up an needs to go potty. At least you know where he is and that he is safe and sound. And for goodness sakes women, get some help taking that little one out doors. Your going to exhaust yourself ! |

I do have some help... sometimes!!! the phrase "but you wanted two dogs!" has come out a couple of times though :eek::eek: shame on him! did i mention i'm in a 3rd floor apartment?!? lol I'm getting tons of exercise... lost 3 pounds though :thumbup: |

But you want four dogs or you wanted two kids !! Uh MEN... Oh wow..3rd floor up.. sucks to be you. I could not do it, I'm too old ? That is another good reason why a schedule feeding / and a routine is a good idea. Fewer trips up and down those stairs. |

I'd love love love to get them on a schedule.... I know I could get Brody on one... he's very lax and goes with the flow. but Sophia... is so stubborn. Fortunately, she potties at the same time everyday despite the fact that she eats at strange times. She clearly doesn't see me as the pack leader (i've been watching too much dog whisperer LOL)!! |

Schedule meals and routine trips would be so much easier !! js Try to get them on the same schedule whether she want to or not. Be the Pack Leader ..... :D |
Everytime I watch it I come out with all of this big dreams thinking I can control my dogs just like he does. On the show, it seems like an instant transformation, so I have these unrealistic expectations... I get all worked up & confident so I try to follow his advice. One bark and I'm totally thrown out of my game and give up. mommas a pushover lol dogs rule my life  |
