I had a small crate with a zipper and I stuck my hand through the zipper; this helped quit a bit. Also, I had taken 6 receiving blankets to his breeders and had her rub each one on mama and herself, as one would get soiled, I'd wash it and put it back in the bag with the others, so he had their sent for a long time. There are certain toys you can buy that have the mother heartbeat and many people say they help their dogs. Comfort Pal - Ultra-Soft Plush Black/White Puppy with Digital Mother's Heartbeat |
Congrats on your new baby! She is lonely, and has left everything she knew before with littermates, mommy and friends! Yorkies REALLY need their people. If you get a small crate and put it up on your nightstand or on your bed where she can see you, I would be very confident it will make a huge difference :) P:S: I laughed out loud at your description of her sounding like a bird cawing... my AprilLove sounded exactly like that when she first came home if she couldn't see me at all times :D, I couldn't believe that sound could come out of such a wee little thing, teehee! and almost wondered what I got myself into... but alas, it does get better and best decision I ever made having a Yorkie as part of the family ♥ |

wish i had sound advice, we are in almost the same boat. SOme nights are better for us than others. My babies is 9 weeks. He seems to like his heartbeat bear (my daughters when she was a baby), he also prefers to sleep in his little bed with a blankey than his cage with a blanket (although both are gated in same little room in my home every night. We tried crating him next to my bed fro a few nights, on my nightstand a few nights and nether of those seemed to help him, in fact he seemed to whine/yelp more. I put a night light in the laundry room where he sleeps, and he has access to his pee pad/water/food all night (we tried taking it away, didnt make a difference). On good nights Mine gets up about 3 and again just before 6, on bad nights (like last night) hes up every 1.5-2 hours whining, until i go hold him for a minute, then tuck him back in. |
