Bark Control My sweet, quiet little Teddy recently started barking in the car. I tried all of the usual methods to correct and discourage this behavior. Nothing worked. My father found the "Pet Corrector" at a dog boutique today. It is nothing more than compressed air in a can that makes a hissing sound when the button is pressed. It is like hairspray or spray deodorant, but a little louder. Surprisingly, the stuff works! We went on a long car ride tonight. I gave Teddy a verbal command to quiet. Then I used the can that made the "shhhh" sound. No more barking. If you try it, do not aim the can at your dog. It is possible for condensation to come out of the can, something not good for eyes or skin. As one of the reviews on Amazon indicates, it is good for cleaning electronics too! :p |
Interesting! |
I need this for Luma...she barks for hours on end if we put her in her pen at night... |
I bought my Pet Corrector on Amazon after reading the reviews. It seemed harmless and Dori was experiencing hysterical barking whenever "Daddy" came home from work. It startled her into quiet the first time I used it. She didn't know where the sound was coming from, but I doubt she thought it was a snake (too smart for that). I reinforced with "good quiet" and a treat. Keys to success: keep it hidden and make use timely. It will work. |
I bought a Dazer II that worked on the neighbor's dog constant barking. |

Interesting, I'll have to try it to stop Huck from barking after a verbal command. |
It quit working for Teddy. :(:p When we are in the car, he is very territorial about our neighborhood and barks at everyone we pass. |
Dazer II Does anyone know if the dazer hurts the dog in any way? I mean, it can't damage his hearing, right? I am interested in this product. |

Thanks |
I meant the "sight" of the device, not the site, lol. :) The Bark Repeller may be a gentler version than the Dazer. Here is a long thread about it -- some people had great success with it, others had dogs who were undeterred by it: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-repeller.html |
I'm reading this with interest because I was always able to take my first Yorkie, Marley, to work with me. I adopted him at the office, and it seemed appropriate that he come with me each day. Well... along came Max, who is a wild barker, and Marley has to stay home and babysit. My clients miss Marley, but I don't want to leave Max home alone. If I could just get Max to quit barking, both could come to the office every day. I'm going to try the air can. |
I might have to try this to see if it stops, Penny, from barking when the windshield wipers are going. She'll be very quiet on rides or with the windows down, until you hit the wipers and it's all-out barkathon to where it startles anyone in the car. |
