Too young for Puppy Kindergarten? Luma is nine weeks old. We love the people at the pet supply store we get her food from (Chicken soup) and they offer puppy kindergarten to dogs nine weeks and up. Is it too early to start training her with a clicker? Are doggy classes even worth it? Her class will have a max of 8 dogs...but they have no groups to seperate dogs under 25 pounds from the big guys...I am afraid of big dogs around my teeny baby. What are y'alls opinions on these beginners classes? |
Hey, I just took my Winnie, who was about 5 months, to puppy classes as well. We did it through petsmart, they did not use a clicker for the young pups though. The other dogs in the class were MUCH larger but there were no issues, they knew how to handles themselves it must be instinct. And winnie well, she just thought she was bigger then both of them and was playing with them like it was nothing. We are all done the classes now and graduated, we were given a clicker at the end so we could start using it to train her, and also signed up for the next level. good luck!! |
I plan on starting Terra around 11/12 weeks. At Petsmart 10 to 15 weeks is the start of pup training. I want to get Terra accustomed to home, me and talk to the vet before signing her up. Let us know what you decide and how it goes! :) |
my oscar is 6 months and he just started class at petsmart. i could be wrong but i think you are supposed to wait till at least 16 weeks till the pup has his whole series of vax before going to public dog classes. it is for his own safety... ask your vet about this |
Puppies should never start classes until all the Puppy Shot's have been given as well as the Rabies Vac. |
