Petco Training Classes Anybody been to them ? I asked this in the Petsmart thread, but I think it got lost in the ensuing political debate.:animal-pa |
I enrolled Belle in a Petco training class. She has been to 3 classes so far. They have been great for her. It is helping her get used to other people and dogs. We love it.:) |
I've not been to PetSmart training classes... I would imagine it depends on the individual trainer (in other words, another PetSmart in another state may have a completely different experience). I'd say ask for references, but I always think... who's actually gonna give you the name of someone they know wasn't happy with their experience??? Maybe ask to 'sit in' on a class without your pet to get a feel for their methods and personality?? Also, your vet might be able to recommend a training class... our vet's offices usually have flyers posted. |
As stated before, I'm sure the quality of the individual trainer will make a big difference. My four month year old yorkie recently completed Puppy Level 1 at Petco, and overall it was a good experience but it wasn't amazing. Good chance for socialization and basic obedience learning, but I didn't think each technique was practiced enough in class. Also, with so many people in the public coming and going, the class can become a bit disorganized and invaded. Bottom line: I thought it was a good place to begin, but don't expect great things. |
Thanks for the info everyone.. excellent idea to sit in on a class... and I really got a chuckle over 'the bottom line'.. I dont expect much, just want him to be basically civilized and follow a couple of commands. I dont expect much more than that from the humans I deal with either... |
we sing up for Petsmart puppy training class for Truffles and supposed to starting today but her Vet want her to wait till all her shots are complete (she is 13weeks old) so we rescheduled for in March. I am very interested in classes too so please update how is the classes for you and your baby :) I will be glad with she is used to around other dogs and people and walk with leash then all the $$ will be paid for LOL. she is learning "Sit, shake, down" at home with her mom and so far good student. |
