Potty Training is a nightmare! I have to give Holly credit, she pees when taken out and if we don't get her out in time she will go to the pad to pee. She never pees or poops in her crate. BUT....pooping is a nightmare! She hates to spend the time outside to try. She looks at me like what do you think I am, a dog? She pees then runs to go back inside. I put her back in the crate for a while, take her back out and eventually we will have success. What is so bad, it's like she will squeeze out whatever just to come back in then run and poop somewhere in the house. How do I get her to do it in a more timely manner so we aren't spending so much time in/out/in/out/in/out, etc? Does it just come with age? She is almost 9 months.... |
Maybe put a coat on her and take her for a walk until she poos. Exercise helps get the bowels working. |
i have the same issue with morgan. he will pee and poop outside and he will pee on a puppy pad but not poop// we have to watch him really close he runs to a corner when he has to poop so its still a work in progress// he is 8 months old |
I think potty training with these little ones is a work in progress. Bella is a year and half old and this has been the biggest challenge I have had with her. Just when I think she is completely house broken she will have an accident. She is great as long as I am in the same room with her. I will see her run to the door and then she runs back to get me. However if I am in another room of the house it is a hit or miss. If I miss the cue she will do it on the mat at the front door. I always say it is my fault as I didn't catch the cue that she had to go and she is doing it at the door which means she knew she had to go outside. Maybe with age they get a little better I don't know. It is much better now than when she was a puppy. She would do just as you describe, go out do a quick pee then run back into the house and poo. Just hang in there, I think it will come. |
Bubba is 13 weeks old, and ever since (2 weeks ago) we put him on a strict feeding schedule, same amount of food, at the same times everyday, his "movements" have been more predictable/scheduled. He has improved tremendously, but I still keep an accurate time chart of Bubba's "successes", this makes it very easy for us if he is making a #2 every 5.5-6.5 hours, I have an idea of what he needs to be doing when I take him outside. He eats at 7:30a, 12:00p, 5:00p, and no water after 8:30p. Also, his potty area outside is a 4'x4' penned off area, keeps him from getting distracted. I understand hypoglycemia is a very common issue with yorkie puppies, and scheduled feedings may not be an option, I would check with your vet to see if this is practical for your pup. I wish you the very best of luck, potty training these little ones is really tough. Even with all the schedules, Bubba still has an accident every now and then, and I have to be very understanding, his bladder is just so small and he is still learning control. |
My Bella - loves to go outside so taking her out and getting the job done is not too bad. I have tried the scheduled feedings but she will eat at 6:00 at night and poop at 3:00 am. It has not really helped her potty schedule. Bella will also squat and pee in the house right in front of me....I don't know what to do. She will go on her potty pads if she is in the kitchen but will not go on them if she is in another room of the house. she is only 12 weeks so I am hoping she will get the hang of going to the door someday. |
