Im afraid I would of pinched the trainers mouth shut and told him/her to PUT MY DOG DOWN! You need a refund and someone to report this person to. There are things that just do not work on toy breeds. No you are not overprotective. Teaching a small dog to not bark is not impossible but it is sometimes difficult. Sit,come,stay,,,these are all basics and you can do it. |
I am currently working with Buster on teaching NO Bark. But right now I am teaching him to BARK on command. I figure once he learns what Bark means I can then tell him not to. He is very good a barking on command now..working on the NO part. |
You are absolutely not over-reacting. I agree with the person who said you should demand a refund. We had good luck at a Petsmart puppy class. It was all positive reinforcement. The setting was a bit much for Gracie, as it was a training area inside the store and noisy and distracting, but we learned a lot and worked on it at home. Well worth the money. We're going back for intermediate training after the holidays. Good luck. |
I actually "missed" our last 2 puppy classes because my baby was so small in comparison to the GR and Labs. I just thought I would go back when the class had at least ONE other small dog. My guy was scared to death, but got better at the end. The problem was all the dogs got braver. We would put Brutus in a situation with a calmer large dog and all was well. Then all the pups would come over and I would be literally grabbing my baby out of the middle of these 30 lb pups. It scared me to death, when I grabbed Brutus his little heart was just racing. That was it. Our trainers were great and really gave us special attention, so we will return when they call and say they have more little guys signed up. |
yikes, report that lady! What kind of training does she have? I would have lost my mind.. I once had a lady spank my cat when he jumped on the counter... I know cats on the counter isn't the most sanitary thing, but when ypu have a 2 year old eating cat food you will put the cat's food on the counter and let him eat it there. My cat had never been spanked before and I heard her spank him from the other side of my house.. it was kinda funny cause my cat ran around the house like he had lost his mind and his tail got puffy... but I yelled at the lady... In fact I'm pretty sure I used language I'm not proud of lol. Well she got the hint and never did it again... but we refer to her as the cat spanker to this day lol. ANYWAY, I would ask for a refund! And I would make it know why! It's not fair of her to take your money and mistreat your furbaby! |
LOL I found that comical! A pinch collar to train a 7 lb dog! So true though! Why in the world? |
