Pee Pad... One and done? My little girl is 8 months old and very good at using her pee pad. But, I have been noticing that she will now smell her pad and if there is a pee spot, she will go and pee on the carpet. But, if the pad is clean she will use it every time. Does anyone else have this problem?? |
Yes, the pad must be clean or our Brando wont use it. I have started putting two down, overlapping by about half. When he goes,, I then hide the pee spot under the overlap, so it looks like a new pad. i can get at least 2 or 3 uses out of each pad. |
I used washable pads and have never had an issue with them using it a couple potties. :) |
Do you use washable or disposable? When I used disposable yes they would do that. With the washable ones they don't do it, we get a few uses out of it (the big ones) before we pick it up. |
Molly will pee on her pad maybe two or three times and then wants it changed. Thankfully hubby doesn't mind changing it frequently!! |
Yep, Cailee too. She like the clean pee pad. I add a second one to overlap to try to use the one more than once. But when it comes to poop, she could care less. She'll poop on the pee pad no matter what it looks like ---- go figure! |
I also had this problem with the disposables- no issues with the washable. |
Hi, Bella uses her Potty Patch we got from PetCo. She was trained the same day we got it. Potty Patch - As Seen on TV at PETCO There's the grass, then a middle drainage tray then the basin (three layers).Doodee gets picked up on an as-pooped basis (each time). Once puppy knows what it's for, you don't have to use pads at all, if you have a work sink in the garage or laundry room, etc. We used Nature's Miracle grassy smell piddle pads at first, so she could smell it. You take the basin, empty it in the toilet, and then wash it out in the work sink with hot soapy water. Once a day is sufficient. Or, you can put 1 piddle pad per day in the basin and just replace it every morning. I use rubber gloves when I clean it out. It keeps me "pee free". Doodee is very easy to pick up from the grass. It doesn't 'stick' to the grass blades, etc. The grass isn't rough, and it's comfortable for their paws. It's not a lot of work, puppy likes it, it's cost-effective and it's better for the environment.:) |
[Update] I wouldn't recommend the Potty Patch any longer. We've had it almost 2 weeks is all, and it smells of urine no matter HOW many times I wash it or what I wash it with. Additionally, when I do wash it, grass falls out. |
Same here. I got a case of 150 at Petco and it works out to 29 cents a pad. A small price to pay since yesterday and today, he's been going everywhere BUT the peepads and I'm starting to get PI**ED OFF if you know what I mean. :>( I'm considering a belly band- enough is enough. |
