Potty training to go indoors - need help I have a 4 month old male Yorky named Peanut. We've been using pee pads pretty successfully and have been pooping the same place on the floor. My reasoning for indoor training is that we'll be going to FL for a few months and living in a condo on the 10th floor. They don't allow dogs, so we'll be sneaking him in. I don't want to train him at home to go outdoors and then have to drag him up on the roof. I'm considering the indoor idea to make it easier. He won't get bigger than 5 lbs. and it can get pretty cold here when we're here. Am I doing the wrong thing? Ive been struggling with this. He'll only go poop outside if I make him wait, bring him back inside, go back out, etc. The peeing is another thing. He likes the pad. He's so small and will stay that way, so is it really a big issue? Any thoughts would be appreciated as well as what worked for anyone who did potty train inside. Thank you!!!:) |
I have only ever pad trained my yorkies. I like the convenience of it as pads can go with you anywhere. I've layed them down in a parking lot, a friend's bathroom, my son's dorm room and even my car trunk, and ZoE with go potty on them. It makes traveling with her so easy. And being pad trained at home means that she can go potty whenever she wants and I don't HAVE to be home at a certain time to let her out to go. I'd highly recommend it! |
Indoor Potty Training Thank you for responding! I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one wanting to attempt this. Sounds like your dog has it down which is great. I began again with strong re-inforcement of the pad use yesterday and he seems to get it. I just know it will be easier for both of us in all the circumstances we'll be in, including traveling. We'll be driving to FL with him for the 1st time and that will be a relief for all to use the pad. Thanks again! ;) |
