2 1/2 year old yorkie... Still not getting potty!!! Ok, so I've posted on here about this problem SEVERAL times. I hate how angry this makes me! I would never give her away but that's how I feel sometimes! I love her to death but I get so mad. I know it's my fault, but I've trained golden retrievers before so why can't I train her? I have the potty train in 7 days book, I thought I'd read that again. I also want to crate her when I'm not home. Here's my question about that, if she was good in the morning and went outside should I reward her with being out of the crate? I'm never gone all day anyways, and most of her accidents are at night. ANY advice will help. If something worked for you let me know. I also got pee pads and she had no idea what to do. Which is fine because I'd rather her go outside. She knows it's wrong to go in the house, and she sometimes scratches to go out. It almost seems like she's being lazy when she goes inside?? |

If I may, from your posts I'm getting that you know what you need to do, but would prefer to just get to the end result. :) Most of us are that way. You've pointed out that you have the book, training in 7 days, but you didn't actually follow the process - (you have indicated that you haven't kenneled, and with accidents it's clear you also haven't leashed her to you when she's not kenneled... I have read this book.) Now another person is telling you a way to associate the pad as a potty place - and it's very good advice, but you're again expressing concern. Start with the first steps and then move through the process - as outlined in the book (which also inlcudes the person above me's advice). Give it a chance to work! I know this is tough stuff but once trained you and your dog will have a much better life! |
You're right, I definitely want the end result, which isn't realistic! So should I crate her when I'm gone even if she's gone pee and poop outside? Or let her have free time. And when do HMO know when she knows to only go outside? |
