Two whole days of perfectness! He has gone potty outside everytime. Thursday DD came home from work then went straight back out to town. She came home late and went to bed. Friday, again..perfectness from Jed. Even had DS's girlfriend here and no accidents! :D Still don't know what is up with my Jedder but so far as long as "I" am the one in charge we don't have problems. :) |
Be the pack leader at all times! |
If it's only happening when others are in charge, perhaps they aren't reading his signals correctly until it's too late. Maybe for them, a schedule of when it's time for potty breaks might be more effective. |
The problem was that Jed has been trained to go potty on the piddle pads! He was doing perfect with them, NO accidents at all. Then me and DH went on an overnight trip and left DD (24) in charge. Suddenly he started doing both jobs in the kitchen floor. Within "feet" of the pads but still it was far enough away that we could tell he wasn't even trying to go on the pads. NOW, suddenly...he wants to go potty outside. No training with this before but so far he has gone outside every time he has needed to go...both jobs. We have had perfectness since Thursday. (thursday when I went to town he used the pads) He's a puzzle! Maybe he just has it in his mind he is a big enough boy he should go do his thing outside. :p He is sure liking the "cookies" for being a GOOD BOY and going outside. |
HUMM.... Abba was pee-pad trained and at 6 months he decided to go outside instead. And for about a week he had mistakes in the house too. Then he totaly wanted to do his business outside, all the time. I put him in his x-pen when I had to be gone with pee-pad as usual. He held it until I got home from the dentist and grocery shopping, about 5 hours. He was frantic to get outside, when I got home. I let him out and watched him run the fence line. Squirt, squirt, squirt, then poop by the gate. He was marking his territory. Maybe he was telling the world, a big boy lives here, keep out ! He has not used his pee pad in 2 months. (My adult Yorkies Rubin and Gracie are outside trained and do not use pee- pads. Ginny Joy (7 months old) only uses her pee-pad if she is in the x-pen, she too seems to prefer to potty outside too. |
Isn't it strange?...It's like he got it in his head that "now" he is suppose to go outside NOT on the pads. He does use the pads if no one is here. I have never heard of a dog "deciding" it's now time to do his business outside. |
