Prince Parker Parker who is about 15 months old is my precious baby. It is no secret that I have spoiled him rotten ever since I got him at 13 weeks old and this is probably why he thinks that he is a Prince  However, he is taking it a little too far lately and I am unsure of what to do. Every time we go outside he freaks out barking like crazy and spinning around..and I totally get he is excited, but when it's time to go back inside he has been biting at my pant leg here and there, and lately he has been biting SO hard that he has gotten my leg...all because he doesnt want to go back inside. I really don't know what to do with him to curb this behavior. It's frustrating, and obviously it hurts! Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated! :) Also, we have taught him to stay inside when someone walks out the door but he does it with a bad attitude he pretends to lung at the door while angrily barking..yet he wont run out??? Don't know what to do with that one either. |
Sounds like he just needs to be reminded who's in charge ;) When I had door issues with Tillie, I used her harness/leash to help her understand where I expected her to be when people are coming/going through the front door. When my girls got into the routine of heading to the side fence and barking obsessively every time I let them out to potty, I went out with them and put myself between them and the fence (not allowing them into that area) while making my that's a no-no sound. I've had to do that with a couple other areas of our backyard and it only takes a couple of times before they understand not to continue that behavior. As for getting them back in the house... after going out in my pjs to round them up a few times, I started giving them liver treats as soon as they'd get back in the house. I had to go to them and let them smell it a few times to get them to follow me inside before they caught on. But now they come in when I open the door and sit in anticipation of their treat ;) Hope this helps a little. |
Thank you for your response I greatly appreciate your advice!!! :) I'll have to try that with the liver treats because his treats just aren't working he gets very uninterested in them when it comes to the door! |
I use the liver treats too when training them to come on recall. It works ! |
