my mee ling has never been yelled at or punished when she runs off i just go get her and bring her back like i said she is only doing it to hubby so for now i'm the only one letting her out |
My marley runs away too :( but im working on it with treats :) |
Im working on this with Joel, but also trying to train the humans too,lol all I hear when he gets out the door is "YOU need to train him not to run out" and it's when i'm not around, but it's hard because there can't really be gates up with the daycare with people going in and out. But thankfuly he only goes out when he's trying to see someone coming in so he follows them in the house. When i'm training him he'll stay but when its a daycare kid he won't at all so the training isn't helping. |
Khloe is a runner too. I put both in the crate when we open the door. Sometimes I pick up Khloe if its a family member entering so she won't dart out of the door. Kirby is 9 years old and I don't trust that she wont run out either. Dogs who have been in the house all day may be anxious and curious for some new scenery. I don't risk it. I never let mine off leash so I am afraid they may get hit by a car. |
My two are not runners, but I still don't trust them 100% so we fenced our front yard to prevent any issues. They love to chase squirrels, so it would only take one time for them to see a squirrel and run across the street and get hit by a car. |
