OUTSIDE POTTY trained, but how to incorpoarate Potty Pad if needed???? Ok, my little Coby is almost 2 years old. He is pretty much completely outside potty trained. He has full run of the house while we are at work and will very rarely have an accident. There are times when we are away for more than 8 hours.....like as soon as I get off, I may need to run get groceries, pick something up for supper, etc.... I don't expect him to be able to hold it for more than 8 hours, and it stresses me out to need to go somewhere after work, and not have time to go home and let him out first. I was wondering how to introduce a puppy pad for him to use if he needed to while we are away, but I want to keep training him to go outside on the grass. The crate is totally out of the question! He goes nuts, clawing and pawing, trying to get out. He's actually ripped nail out trying to escape. But, he does fine being left alone for the day when he has run of the house. Although I do leave the blinds open for him to look out and I also leave the TV and some lamps on for him. ;) Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. |
8 hrs is a long time. What about a dog walker or older neighboorkid to take her baby out once while you are out. Luckily my parents babysit/puppy sit for me when I go to work. |
I am trying to figure how I will train Ladybug to potty outside. She is only 11 weeks and goes on the pads perfectly so far. She is getting her 2nd round of shots on Friday, but because we live in a woodsy area, racoons are in our backyard at night. I am afraid to start training her outside because of diseases the racoons carry. I want to get her started but am terrified of her getting sick. I am a first time puppy owner and as much reading as I've done, I feel like I still don't know enough. |
