HELP, peeing Guys for some reason. My parents Yorkie girl, who was good with peeing on wee pads went nuts and pees under the bed or on the rug now. Doesnt use the pads at all. The only change that I can think off is, I in the middle of moving and had to leave my male Yorkie with my parents for a few weeks. Ever since then the girl is peeing everywhere. She is spayed. She knows that she is wrong, as she is trembling once she does it, and goes into hiding. I tried crating her, but it does no good. We are going nut here. Any suggestions?:aimeeyork |
Does she get punished or scolded? I'm not saying this is the case, but lots of times when dogs get negative reinforcement, they think peeing is wrong and try to hide it from you. Then again, maybe it does have something to do with the other dog. Regardless, when dogs have setbacks you should just return to basics: Limit their freedom around the house by maybe setting up an xpen or closing off a room. Have a crate and a pee pad available in that limited space. Then take them to the place you want them to go at regular intervals. Good luck. I know it's frustrating when they have setbacks. |

WEll I tell her, NO, bad girl, I never lay a hand on her. As soon as she does it she is put in a crate for half an hour and there is a pee pad in there. I am thinking it because of my male yorkie, but its just very frustrating. My male is very passive and laid back, so I dont see a dominance issue there, if anything she mocks him and starts playing games with him all the time. ehhhh:( |
Yeah, that's a tough one. They say a "no" is OK if you catch her in the act, not as effective if you don't. Since she's shaking, I'd concentrate more on rewarding success. Limit her freedom so she doesn't have the opportunity to make mistakes, then praise success when she uses the pad. |
Just a thought, but could she possibly have a urinary tract infection? |
