Crate training; need suggestion..PLEAZZZ!! I am trying to crate train Rambo and he will whine, whimper and bark all night till he is tired. My friend suggested purchasing a clock that has the ticking sound, so I bought it :thumbup: ; nothing has changed :thumbdown . He does not like the crate. I have put the crate next to my bed, in the second bedroom and left the tv on and off ( Disney channel..lol) . He will bite the bars and I am afraid that he will break his little teeth :( . Rambo is only 9 weeks old, so I know it will take time. But, are there any suggestions that anyone can make so I can make his stay in the crate a good one. :confused: I want the crate to a comfort area, not punishment. |
give rambo a treat each time you put him in his crate. sternly tell him no barking or quiet when whimpering at night. but you have to be stern. i hate to say it but the whinning will last about 2 weeks maybe more for rambo to understand. later he will just walk into his cage but will still expect a treat each time. i took me 2 weeks i only crated them at night or when i wasnt home after a few weeks they get the hang of it. when my pups see me pick up my keys they know its time to go in their crate and they willingly walk in there. they even sleep in there when they dont want to be bothered.it takes time and patients. and yes it will be very fustrating stay strong :) |

Needs Company! Try putting something inside of the crate... A stuffed animal or favorite toy. |
I do have a stuff toy in there that the breeder gave me that his brothers and sisters have been playing with. I and I put a Kong toy and a treat in the crate. I take him out alot when I am home and my mom comes by for a couple of hours as well. It has started snowing here and a friend bought up litter box training. Has anyone done this? |
I have my baby litterbox trained only I use the dog litterbox but NOT the litter. The litter doesn't work well because the pieces are too big for her tiny paws to stand on - she kind of sunk into it. Besides, she likes to chew on the litter itself too much. Anyway, I have her paper trained first and eventually put the paper in the litterbox (we got it from PetSmart). At the begining, the box was new to her so we had to put her in there when she needs to go. The box was lined with a layer of newspaper on top of an old paper which she had went on before. She pick it up pretty quickly and we now have two litterboxes side by side in her playpan. She will not go in the litterbox if the paper is still wet (sometimes you are just not there in time to clean it up) so the second one really helps. Unlike using paper alone or peewee pad, she will keep her business in the box. You don't have to worry about her being on the paper but too close to the edge - no more messy floor. :thumbup: It works really well for us. It's something to consider. :) |

Oh, I have mine little one creat trained. Someone had told me to ignor her when she cry if she doesn't need to go potty. It was hard to tell the difference but you just need to let the little one out potty but no play with her. If she doesn't go, put her back in. It works for us. |
Kisses and a Fur Blanket, to go Please! 3 Attachment(s) Sounds like he dosent want to be alone. Get him a big fluffy fur blanket and a stuffed animal. Rub it all over your face, hair, and feet needs to be covered with you scent. He is afraid of being in that carrier and the fur and smell of you will help him calm down. You should put him in his carrier about a hour before you go to bed and have a squirt bottle with water only in it. When he begins to cry out say SHUUUUUSH and give him 1 squirt in the face. I have had wonderful results doing this. Mine all sleep together. Each one learned to go night night this way and all is hush in the house at night. Maybe it will work for your little one.
