Soo hyper My Kobi is almost 7 months old. He is soo soo hyper when we have company or when he just sees anyone. He wants to lick, lick, lick and jump all over them. It is soo embaressing. What can I do ? |
I have a 10 month old female that does this but usually more to me than anyone else. I can not calm her down. She will grab hold of my shorts and won't let go until I pick her up. I know I am spoiling her but she is just so loveable. There are commands you can teach him or take him to puppy classes, that helped with my first Yorkie. |
I have the same issue with my 18 month old. It's hard for me because I don't want to discipline her for being happy & lovey about seeing someone but I know I need to learn something & teach her. Though I know she means no harm & I don't mind, others may not feel the same. |
We've had our puppy for a couple of weeks now, and he was getting super hyper when we let him out of his crate when we got home from work. What is working to calm him down is completely ignoring him for the first 5 mins when we let him out. We don't look at him, talk to him, or touch him. He's calmed down a lot since we started doing that. My suggestion is that you ask people who come over to do the same. Once the dog has calmed down you can give it attention. By giving the dog any attention while it's acting inappropriately, you're reinforcing the behaviour you don't want it to have. |
Levi is three years old and is still very, very hyper and excitable. Luckily, most people that I have over are very dog-friendly and don't mind paying him attention when he walks in the door. He gets very excited, jumps up, zooms around, and shows off. He does tend to calm down once they have greeted him and petted him. In the rare instance I have someone over that doesn't love Yorkie kisses, I will hold Levi. His hyperactivity and friendliness don't bother me, but I could see how they might be bothersome to someone who isn't used to being around dogs. I just don't have many non-dog-loving friends, I suppose. Everyone I have over adores my crazy boy and his antics. |
