Laproscopic Spay? So even being in the vet field I have never heard of this until today but a vet clinic by my house offers Laproscopic Spays. Heres some info on it from their web site: Advantages of Laparoscopic Spays over Traditional Surgery 65% LESS PAINFUL THAN TRADITIONAL SPAY Smaller incisions are less painful and reduce recovery time Controlled cuts eliminate pain and bruising caused by tearing tissue in traditional spays Fewer complications Allows for excellent visualization of abdominal organs Entire surgery performed through a few tiny incisions rather than a large abdominal opening Has anyone done this kind of spay or know anyone who has??? |
whoops posted in wrong area :P |
I've had friends that had a laproscopic hysterectomy (one just last week), and it was much easier than the traditional hysterectomy. I'm sure it must be much easier on a dog, too. I brought my friend dinner last week only two days after she had hers, and she was doing really pretty good, getting around really well. I wondered then why they didn't use a laproscope for spays -- now you have answered my question and I have learned that they are doing this. I think it's great. |
Well the only downside is it's much more expensive, its more than double what a regular spay costs but I dunno... I think I might go down and talk to the vet about it. If it will save my baby even a bit of pain how could I not do it? I was just hoping someone else would have heard of it or done it but it might be too new |
