I need help with potty training I just got my little yorkie, Brodie, monday and when I got him the lady said that he was trained to use the pee pads. Well he won't use the bathroom on them now. Oh and the other day I left him in the bathroom for a couple of hours while I went to work and when I came home he had poop all over him and I couldn't figure out how he got it on his face....well today he pooped and as I was going to clean it up I noticed that he was trying to eat his poop!!! So what do I do???? How can I get him not to use the bathroom on the floor and use it on his pee pad..... and not to eat his poop while I'm gone????? |
Welcome to YT! I have read a few times that if you put a little crushed pineapple in with their food that it is suppose to make it less appealing. I never had the problem though so I don't know how the success rate is. Otherwise I have seen some that watch the puppy like a hawk and when it goes poo they spray the bitter apple spray on it and let them actually go for it and once they have the negative taste experience they usually stop with that bad habit. As far as potty training how old is your little one? You have to understand that he is in an entirely different evironment now and just because he was maybe potty pad trained at the breeders house that mean nothing now. It takes patience, consistancy and lots of love. Also if he is just a wee little guy you can't have unreal expectations. It takes time...these babies are very cute but they are a lot of work too. I know when we got Teddy I was up with him every few hours taking him out just like he was a new born baby. |
well all day today he is used his pee pads, so i'm really proud of him. But he is 12 weeks old. I left him home today by himself and he didn't eat his poop so that's good..But thank you for the help!! |
