Aggressive towards other dogs 1 Attachment(s) I'm going to try to explain this w/o blabbering on and on, we'll see if I succeed. :D Lily is 1 year 8 months old, she is potty-trained (as long as the doggy door is open ) and is a very sweet girl towards people (even shy for the most part). We have 3 other dogs (another yorkie, Tristan, & 2 boxers) and she gets along well with them also. The problem I am asking about is her being aggressive towards them and other dogs when she wants to play. She sounds very mean and jumps on them and other dogs to try to get them to play. I KNOW she's not being mean and does not mean it in an angry way, she just wants them to play w/ her. It's not a big deal w/ our dogs because they'll either ignore her or play w/ her. The problem is w/ other dogs. I took her to the softball fields one time to play w/ my friend's dog and she barked, growled & jumped on this other dog to the point of scaring him. I would tell her no, back her away, etc. but she just ignored me. Finally, I just had to take her away and sit by ourselves while she whined the whole time because she wanted to play. She doesn't know how to play but I'm not sure how to teach her. I want to take her to the dog park but not if she's just going to jump all over every other dog there! Here's a picture of her cuteness. :o |
My dog does the same thing, she is not really being aggresive she is just crazy and loves to play , I think that another dog would recognize the difference between an angry fighting growl and a playful one ;) |
She is absolutely adorable!! |
She just loves to play with other dogs. Go ahead and take her to the dog park, you will probably find another dog there that has a similar "play style" and they'll have a great time together. |
HA HA HA... uoo excuse me ! But, I can see that mischievous Ruffian TomBoy look your little one has. The reason I recognize it is, I got a little girl that does EXACTLY like yours does ! :D Yorkie Females are NOT exactly the submissive little Lap Dolls we frequently expect them to be. They can rough and tumble with the strongest of Males, and don't mind attempting the Alpha Roll when it comes to other Dogs (other than their established pack). I wouldn't worry about this activity at all !! Just let her and them settle it, and if the other Dogs can't play to the level she can....tough ! She'll find some she can really have fun with. Turn her loose !!! ;) |
Buster will bark and whine at the other dogs trying to get them to play. We got lucky and he found a playmate who likes to play as much as he does. I hope Lily finds a friend whose play style matches. |
