I really need help i dont know what to do!! my yorkie is 1 and whenever he gets the chance he chews on the wires of everything he chewed up my laptop wire, the tv wire, the aux wire for the sound system, whenever he finds headphones he chews them. i have tried telling him no when i catch him but as soon as i look away he starts chewing. i tried spraying dilutted vinegar on his nose and on the wires. i go through so many phone chargers. can anyone suggest something?????????? |
i forgot to add that i have many chew toys for him but he still chews the wires...... |
Cali was like that when she was young. My husband put all wires up out of her reach or along the wall between the carpet. It sounds like he needs to be carefully supervised until he grows out of that phase. |
Teddie has been going through that phase and I have been working hard to break it. Telling him leave it wasn't an option, he'd throw a tude and make a noise like he was arguing with me. I started picking him up and putting him in the kitchen, which is blocked off by baby gates, every time he started chewing cords and wires. He is slowly learning that this is an undesireable action that gets him removed from the fun. It's working, good luck to you!! |

He cant have free run of the house untill he quits the chewing. Chachi stopped at a 1 1/2. You need to put phone chargers and things like that up off the ground. Also at Home depot there are these things thazt you can put your cords in |
Thank Goodness my little ones don't chew wires, however my basset hounds were totally impossible. They chewed the heater wire, my friend's jukebox wire, the cable tv wire, and the ac wires outside. They were placed in their crates every time they chewed. It took them about a year to outgrow this. |

My Chloe Anne is 7months.She has chewed our laptop wire as well.When I caught her doing it,I simply picked her up and put her in her cage and firmly said "No'mam that is a bad girl".She instantly knew she was in trouble,she put her head down very low and looked up at me.I made her sit in her cage for 10 minutes.When she was let out,she came up on the couch with me and started licking me and laid by me.But also,all dogs are different.You just have to find out what works for your dog.I was very hesistant on getting a Yorkie,because the potty issues,the barking,and the chewing.Plus I was in Nursing School.On top of all that Im only 20 years old.Yorkies are recommended for older people,I guess.When I finished Nursing School,I decided to just get one.She loves to play,but is not a barker.She is fully potty trained,she goes to our sliding glass door and cries when she has to go potty.I wouldn't trade her for the world.Sorry so long,I wish you all the luck with the chewing issue. |

When Layla used to chew on cords and furniture and walls, I put clear deodorant on everything (that I couldn't put up out of reach!). It worked better than bitter sprays for us. She loved the bitter apple, and not even a dab of hot sauce could stop her! But the deodorant stopped it immediately. |
