Barking??? Hello, Can any of you give some tips on how to keep Molly from barking so much?? She will bark just when I am walking to the door to look outside! I need to get her to not bark so much so that I can sneak her somewhere in June. Any suggestions?? Thanks! :animal36 |
How old is she? Very young Yorkies will bark from separating anxiety - you walking away for example. Ruger would bark when I closed the curtain on the shower and stop when I opened it up again. Now he doesn't do anything. |
Molly is about a year and a half. |
I don't know what to tell you. If you are trying to sneak her somewhere in June you might try some medications to calm her down. With a little sedation, either natural or prescribed, you can probably take her wherever you want. I got a handle on Ruger's barking with a bark collar, but even if you go this route it will take a little time so I would start now. Look at my bark collar thread and see if anything there helps. IMHO I think barking is one of the hardest habits to break, and Yorkies tend to be natural barkers. |
I giggled when i read this because i have a yorkie named molly she is 6 months old and has never barked and i want to her her little voice lol everyone says be thankful she is quiet. |
Pfft.... My little Molly USED to be quiet! Then she erupted and became a bit of an extrovert. lol  Yes, be thankful, it may not last. :) I think I will put vinegar and water in a squirt bottle and squirt her when she barks at every little thing. Maybe then just seeing the bottle will make her think???? Hope so anyway! Happy Easter everyone! Quote:

I guess we are lucky, Jake only barks when we wants us to do something for him (walk or feed....lol) and when ANYONE walks by on the sidewalk. He comes in and barks at us as if to tell us..."someone is out there...lets do something about it" lol. My aunt kept telling me that Yorkies bark and "he will bark after awhile" but so far so good. Nothing to offer you...but good luck! |
