Chasing anything Anyone any good ideas, Buddy is nearly three and a really good dog, except for his chasing of traffic. I always have him on a lead, except when we go to the local park, which I have just started going to, the odd car does travel through the park at 10mph, tonight he totally ignored my shouting and headed straight for the car barking like mad, but he also had another dog in toe who was playing with him, this other dog didnt realise what he was doing, but he did stay back from the car, then he headed back to me as though nothing had happened, when he is on the lead, I pull him close and say no, but off lead he is oblivious to my voice, does anyone have a suggestion? |
I just guessing at this, and I hope others have lots of ideas, but after watching a zillion Ceasar Milan episodes, I think you need to take him to the side of the road and let him watch the traffic that goes by until he settles down. When he calms down reward him. Commands like "leave it" also works with traffic, squirrels and all kinds of things. Fortunately, Ruger chases things but ignores cars. |
Thanks Ziggy, I would say 95% of the time on lead the traffic does not bother him, but I think its the repetative noise some make that make him excited, were still working on it |
