Puppy Poops in cage Our 13 week old Yorkie poops in her cage overnight. We hae made it smaller with out any sucess. She goes with or without toys or blanket. She walks in it and gets it all over her and the cage. This is not our first puppy, and I have never had one that goes where she sleeps. Any sugetions would be appreaciated. |
How long is she in the cage at night? When does she last eat? Is she pad-trained or outdoor-trained? When I got my puppy I had to take her to go potty a couple of times in the night. Now at 18 weeks old, she still wakes up once in the night to go pee. |
She is just strarting to go outside, She had never been outside before we got her. We try not to feed her after 5:00PM. When we here her cry it's too late she aleready has gone. After cleaning her and the cage she is too wide awake to go back to sleep. |
At 13 weeks I am not that surprised and holding out on food on a baby that young is not recommended at all in my opinion. She needs to be eating every 8 hours and unless you are waking up at 1am to feed her then you may have problems with blood sugar levels if the baby is going that long without food. I would set an alarm and wake up once to take her out to prevent potty in the crate and feed her 45 mins before you go to bed and then take her out after 30-45 mins until she pottys. Good luck with the training and remember not all puppies are the same and not all yorkies train the same:) |
