Barking! My little 3 year old Yorkie, Lovey, is the sweetest thing until she starts running around and barking like crazy! I work from home and am on the phone alot - she starts and won't stop! I can't see what she's barking at - she's very protective of us and it's sweet but I can't seem to get her to quit on command. I point at her and say "No!" and she stops alittle but keeps right on going. Any tips? |
The first thing I would consider is how much exercise she gets each day. If you don't already, try starting out the day with a walk. A good routine, schedule helps my boys. They know we do things at about the same time each day and there are windows of time that are mommy time. We have walks and play time throughout the day/evening and this helps drain their energy and keeps them from getting bored, which usually leads to barking at the window or every little noise. |
I have to agree with Kristin. The more exercise Teddi gets the better behaved he is. He loves going for walks and to the park ~ we do this several times a day and when we return he is ready to settle down and just chill for awhile so I can get some studying or work around the house done. Best of Luck with your little one! ♥ |
Walks and playtime don't have to be exceptionally long. We walk a mile in the morning and one in the evening. Play time is usually 10 - 15 minutes here and there, or we hang out on the deck, fetch the mail. When I have more time, we lengthen our walks or go on special outings. |
While I agree with everyone here, and walking and playing with your dog will definitely calm him down, you can always try one of those ultrasonic bark stoppers. Didn't work at all with my little guy, but many dog owners swear by them. |
