What to expect if you kennel cage a yorkie Hi! I have bought a yorkie not more than 3 weeks ago. Technically, we had him roaming around the house for almost 2 weeks. Now that his skin disease (dandruff -unknown cause yet, because fungal culture ia not due until 7more days) i decided to keep him in a cage like this: Midwest Metal 1624DD Fold and Carry Double Door Dog Crate: Compare Prices, View Price History and Read Reviews at Nextag. My worry is: 1. Will he be notorious or troublesome every time I take him out? Bec. For sure he will be there longer than he's out. I worry that he'll be different. He doesnt chew on our stuff and doesnt bark too much. 2. Will he hate me for keeping him in? Any advice: 1. How to keep him happy even if he's in there most of the time? 2. How long should ingive him a cage time out? Im thinking about 2 hours a day. 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon? 3. He'll definitely potty inside, not a problem because it has a tray, can I still train him to potty where I want him to after cage confinement? Say around 2 mos. Reasons why i thought of keeping him in a cage; He's got a cough and dandruff problem that I worry that dust around the house floor can cause him allergy. I cant give him a bath bec of cough and he smells bad plus the skin problem |
You might want to get an xpen for him and they have mats that you can put underneath it to keep him off the floor. This way he has his crate if he wants to go in it but alos he has acess to potty area, food, water and a little room to play and stretch his legs. |
Yorkie age is only 5months by the way |

Have the vet check for Cheyletiella mites...causes the skin to flake like dandruff... |
