No more big bed! Tay was doing soooooo good for the last week or so about being in our bed and waking me up to go potty in the middle of the night but the past 2 nights have not been okay! She has peed on the bed both nights, so started last night she was in her crate all night! :( I hate doing it to her as she whines but she has to know she can't potty in our bed... *Sigh* She cried and cried even when I took her out int he middle of the night and she didn't get back in the *big bed* with us.. but Im not doing it I think til she is 100% potty trained and knows better. I hate being a bad, mean mommy! :( :( |

You're not a bad mommy! Dry sheets are important. There is no rule that says our pups have to sleep with us. Quite the contrary, actually, there are those that say dogs should NOT sleep with us because it can lead to power issues... |
Thanks yall. It makes me feel better! Although, I kinda caved in already..haha. I took her out around 2 AM and she did both for me outside after being in her crate from 10-2 AM, so I let her sleep with us til about 5 Am, took her back out and she peed and then I put her in her crate til around 8 AM this morning when I woke up and took her back out, then she snuggled in bed til my husband woke up. I think if I do this it lets her know that she only sleeps in the bed when she does both outside for right now til she is fully trainied, so she gets re-warded with our bed for doing so! NO accidents last night so thats a plus! Plus I missed my cuddlebug in there with us! haha |
You are not a bad mommy! Well if you are I am sure there is a bunch of us too - We could make a Bad Mommy Club! Abbie never P'd in the bed, but Sophie! OMG I could have killed her. Not really but only good thing about it is I had clean sheets everynight! LOL She grew out of it after putting her in the crate for a couple of nights. |
I have read that if you let your dog sleep with you in your bed that they feel as they are your equal and are less likely to obey and harder to train.In dog packs, the alpha male will sleep on higher ground than the subordinates, so therein lies the theory.BUT, my trainer says that it's okay.I have Biscui t in his crate at night cause he still has accidents, but in the morning after we go out, he comes back to bed with us.I can't help it!I think it's okay sometimes. ;) |

From the time I was a little girl, I haven't had a dog that peed in the bed. One thing I did when they were puppies, though, was set the alarm and take them out during the night and then we would go back to bed. This was usually a two-month ordeal. I always felt safer with them in the bed, because I could keep an eye on them and know if they were OK, especially when they were old. I think if you're going to get them, you might as well spoil them rotten. :D |
When mine were real young I had them in a playpen right next to my side of the bed so I could put my hand in with them until they went to sleep and there was a pee pad in there that they used during the night. When Buddha was sick we put a pee pad on the bed and he slept with us and used the pee pad when he had to during the night. Hefner had a couple of accidents with peeing on the bed but neither Chai nor Ava ever did that. Yay! I have stairs that are easy to ge tup and down and there is a pee pad in the bathroom that they use if I sleep in too late.... :rolleyes: |
