Furbaby getting a hard lesson This morning I did what I had been putting off for weeks.. I shampooed my carpets. To do this corky needed to go in the garage, No if ands or buts! There is a screen door to the entrance of the garage from the house, I put it up a few weeks ago because I was planning on getting a dog. Corky can see me and hear me walking around the house. I started at 930. Corky barked pretty much off and on (More ON) till I was done at 11:30. I went in there after he stopped barking around 11, and gave him a treat for being a good dog. ( I never went in when he was barking) But I have to leave him in there because the carpets are not completely dry and I do not want him to have any type of issues. As I type this he is barking, Thank goodness I live in a new development and there are only 2 houses around me, and they are at work. He has food and water, and the toys he plays with... When he does stop barking I will go in there with a treat and praise, But he cannot come out yet. I feel bad, I really do not want to leave him in there, But he has to stay. and even if I put him in the laundry room, I will still have the same issue. I guess I just need to know if I am doing it right?? Sad |
Too funny you posted this...this weekend it's going to be my turn to do the same. Oh well, nothing to do but to do it!;) |
He'll be okay for a couple hours. I think their heartbreaking barks are harder on us. When all is said and done, give him lots of love - show him you didn't abandon him "forever" - he'll be more accepting each time when he knows you always come back to him. I'm a fine one to talk though as I give in wwaaaayyyy too easily to my Gracie...and she knows it...and she works it. The others find ways to entertain themselves if I'm not immediately available for them - they can accept sometimes "no" is the answer, but not Gracie. Often times she reminds me of that demanding little 3 year old you see at the store where while you're walking away you're muttering, "If that was MY child..." |

I'm sorry your hubby is having a bad day. I would be wary of leaving a pet in the garage... If a car has been parked in there there could be fluids on the floor such as coolant/antifreeze that are toxic. And my garage has creepy things like black widow spiders in the little nooks and crannies. I'd say the laundry room might be a better choice as long as Corky can't get at any cleaning products. I can't advise on how to get Corky to settle down because I haven't solved that one for myself. Tallulah can handle maybe five minutes alone before she starts demanding company. Were working on it but she is a stubborn little thing. |
Buster always gets frustrated when I have to clean the carpets as it is a long process with the wash phase and then drying and the the rinse phase and drying. I try to take him on walks while the carpet is drying. He too makes it known that he is not happy with being ignored. You are doing the right thing because you do not want them getting chemicals on their paws and the running the risk of licking it off and having a reaction. Being a good Mommy can be exhausting and noisy! |

No car, mowers... I spay but there could be some bugs there... But I did put him in my laundry room today, He still was not happy about it. But he HAS to get use to it. So he and I will be at it tomorrow! |
