Potty Trained.. but only for pee? My Yorkie is almost a year old and she understands that you must pee outside but not poop. Every once in a while I will go to my aunts house for the weekend. and of course I bring my Yorkie, Daisy, with me. And the whole weekend she does really good peeing outside. but she wont poop. at all. but when i arrive back at our house she will poop inside the house. She HOLDS it until we get home. Right now we are crate training her. Only letting her out every hour to go bathroom. Pees almost every time... but refuses to poop. I've taken her on a walk to try to get her to poop but no success. I don't know what to do because she hasn't pooped in a few days. because she wont poop outside and she wont poop in her cage! |
Sometimes I find I have to stay out with mine for like 30 to 45 minutes before they poop...I have a 5 month old and a 2 yr old...Bella goes on command plus I know when she has to do her bussiness...Maybe you could use a command like "go potty" for them to pee and "hurry up" for poop...Thats what I do..Harley has the go potty command, pees everytime than I give him a few minutes and I will say hurry up sometimes he does sometime he don't...if he don't I put him in his play yard for 30 minutes than try again until he goes...I'm surprised that she isn't pooping on her walks, how long are you walking her? My 2 almost always does both on there walks...Hope this helps.:) |
Poop is the hardest thing to train. My Pixie walks around in circles bf she poops so I usually just watch her and then quickly say do you have to go out? I find if I take mine for a short walk after she eats she seems to do better. They are just little poops so try not to get stressed over it. she will do it in time. ;) If she hasn't pooped in a while try some canned pumpkin. |
It's probably about a 45minute to an hour walk. which is, I think, plenty of time to poop. |
I agree, just keep confining her until she goes outside...don't let her have full run of the house and when you do have her out keep an engles eye on her...when you can't watch her put her up...she will learn that outside is where you want her to potty and hurry...good luck :) |
my ella just turned two and for the first 2 year of her life she never pooped out side i would be out there for like 45 min and still wouldnt go ...come inside and she would do her little potty dance and i would immideditly take her back out side and be out there angain for 45 min and she would go but for the past 4 weeks she stared to go out considering i dont work i get up with her at 8 and she goes pee then we go back to sleep until 930 and she wakes up wanting to go out side and this is when she poops i dont know what started her to poop out side but i am really proud of her!! |
Look at the bright side. It's a lot easier to pick up poop then it is to pick up pee. |
