**Sleepless In PA** Hi Everyone, I have a 10 month old Yorkie that sleeps in her crate at night in my bedroom. Almost every night around 2:30-4:00 in the morning she wakes up and starts scratching inside her crate. I am SO sleep deprived because I have to take her downstairs to go the bathroom. I have tried changing her feeding times without success. If I leave her downstairs after she goes potty, she comes and scratches at the door waking me again. I have to stay downstairs with her and sleep on a couch that is too small. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them... Hugs, Marcie :aimeeyork |
Is it possible you could gate her downstairs where she can't come upstairs? I gate mine in the kitchen dining room. (dining room was meant to be a family room). Nice large area anyway, and I keep their pee pads and water down, along with chewy's. They never bark or cry and I always get a good nights sleep. I tried sleeping with them at one time, but two are quick to bark at any tiny noise, so it just doesn't work for me. |
OOOOOOOOO, I FEEL YOUR PAIN (SOMETIMES) Is she crying and welping to get out or is she digging and re fluffing her bed? My DH thought DEX was scratching to get out, when in fact he's refluffing his blankets. What happens when you put her back in the crate after she goes potty? We are finding it easier to keep Dex in bed with us. He wakes me up walking around, so I'd take him out and he does his businees and we go right back to sleep.... If we put him in the crate after he goes potty-forget it!! So I'm getting up to take him out once in the EARLY morning, but he will settle back down....GOOD LUCK |
My Kody sleeps in his crate in my bedroom. His last feeding is at 6p.m. At 7p.m. food and water are put away for the night. He gets sleepy around 8:30 or 9:00. I try to keep him up as long as I can. Before we turn in, I take him out for potty and back to his crate this around 10:30 or 11:00. I get him up again around 1:30 or 2:00 for potty and back to crate with no problem, sometimes he whine for a few minutes then he's back to sleep and then he's up at 5:00a.m. At this time out to potty (pee/poo) and then in to eat breakfast. He plays for awhile then naps again from around 8:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Out to potty, play time and then lunch around 12:00. |
I know how you feel. My Pixie has been waking me up at 2 to 2:30am for years to eat. I finally decided a few weeks ago, I am the boss and switched their feeding schedule. Now that they get their last meal at 11:30 pm and now she sleeps through until 7 or 8 am. I had tried before and she would carry on for 2 hours until I gave in. It was rough for a few days but now I can sleep through the night. It does help that they have pee pads to use. |
crying My Zoey is 3 1/2 years old and the last couple of nights she cries around 4 am really high pits i tell her to stop but she keeps going until 6:45 am. It is not that she have to go pee/poo because she takes her time in the mornings but she hates her crate i think. Do i ignore her or what do i do . |
