will pee when told go potty..but not poop okay..so i was training my puppy to go on papers..but now i want her to go outside.. so i put her potty pads outside on my balcony ( we just bought that potty patch thing..she btw has no effing clue what it is yet ) she's always had this problem.. i'll tell her to go potty..and she will pee on the pads..but she WONT POOP when i tell her to. she like doesnt wanna poop in front of me or something. its strange.. we've already had multiple accidents with poop. she has pooped in her crate..while in the car (omg that was a nightmare.. especially since this little demon likes to eat poop) she WONT Poop when i tell her to go potty!!! does anyone else have this problem?! she like holds in her poop until the last minute..that being said she only poops like twice a day! the first poop is super small..then the second poop is just a pile!!! A BIG HUGE PILE. oi just want her to grow up already..so stressed. |
Hi there... Wow, you sound really stressed out with your baby. Be patient, if you stress, she will pick up on it. Use a different word for "poop." With our Snickers (:)) we use the word "finish." He knows when we say "potty" it means-pee. He also knows when we say "finish," we mean to poop. Sometimes we will take him out and say "potty" and he will do both. How old is your girl??? If she is young, it could take much time. Also look for clues when she is about to poop, like sniffing, circling etc. And she won;t have a clue about the potty patch until you show her and get her used to it. They are never going to understand things right off the bat. She is a demon????? Eating her poop means that something is not fully digested....try giving her some pineapple with her meal, it will make her poop taste bad and hopefully she will want to stop eating it. Hope that helps....take it day by day. -Viv |
Hello, yes i have been super stressed out about my new puppy.. her having giardia has not helped the situation very much either. my first puppy (snickers) was not quite this hard to train. he was pretty smart and understood things right off the bat. lotus whines a lot.. to add onto my stress.. i've givin her pineapple..she still likes to put poop in her mouth. that doesnt work.. she doesnt seem to want to eat her poop when im around, but the other day.. she pooped in her crate..whiel i was driving..and it was horrible..it got all over my car..all over her..and the crate. just digusting.. i wanted to cry. i just dont want her to poop in the house.. earlier today i had go pee..and then she pooped! (but only a little) so i gave her a treat and everything..we went back inside the house..and then seh started sniffing around..... and looked like she was gonna poop again. so i took her outside..she still hasnt pooped.. just whining..and stares at me. fml. Quote:

I understand your frustration. My Teddi knows both words - Go Potty and Go Poop. She will poop outside if I tell her but she would NEVER go inside on the pad if I told her. She likes to poop privately. Outside she only goes with her back to me. They are funny like that!! |
Are you taking her out on a leash?? This can help a TON. I started Reesie's outdoor training 2 weeks ago and at 1st I would take him w/o a leash and he would run around and play in the snow & not do his business. As soon as I got him on a leash and a routine, he goes within 1 min of me taking him out. He just needs time to sniff. The leash was a but of a struggle at 1st., but now he knows when I put my coat on, and his harness/leash goes on, it's time for business. Plus it's so cold here, he goes and wants right back in. An added bonus, is he is getting used to his leash which will help since we are starting puppy obedience class next week!! Yay!!!! Have patience!! Viv |
Hey Viv, yes i just really need to work on my patience. Yesterday I took both snickers and lotus on a leash. Snickers knows how to walk on a leash of course..but lotus just wasnt having it..she just would sit down..and i would be dragging her. HAHA but.. today she went poop on the potty patch!!!!!! :D:D:D she had two poopy accidents today..but in the spot where i was training her ont he potty pads..so she understands... i'm just scared of confusing her..beacuse i am switching from the inside to the outside. she's getting it though.. i just need to have more patience with her!! I pretty much have to second everything Vivian said. Go out on a leash, use a second command for poop. I also use the word "outside" when we're going out the door, e.g. "Let's go outside and go potty". If I caught him in the act of an accident, I could say, "no, potty OUTSIDE". Also, be sure to really praise her when she gets it right! Of course, treats immediately after a good potty help a lot too. Honestly though, I noticed the most improvement when I switched to scheduled feedings--it makes it so much easier to predict when they'll need to poop. Now, Chewie's pretty much regular as clockwork. Of course, scheduled feeding isn't necessarily the best thing for every pup, but in our case, it works out really well. |
yes i do scheduled feeding for both of them...and the good news is..EVERYONE! lotus has been making wonderful improvement. SHE'S BEEN GOING POOP AND PEE OUTSIDE! she's had one accident so far. BUT DOING GOOD. I just get so scared sometimes..when i take her out to potty..and she doestn poop..i'm scared she's gonna poop in the house.. Quote:
