After 6 months? My yorkie just turned 8 months. She was very easily potty pad trained. Hasnt had an accident in months. Has always slept in a closed small crate at night. Now all of a sudden, she is pooing on my couch and barking all night and scratching at her crate door. I am back up again because she is keeping my husband who is not impressed and has to get up in a few hours for work and my 2nd grade daughter who is back to school tomorrow awake due to her barking. Im wondering if anyone has a clue about this behavior and if this is a common thing? I know dogs can act out when nervous but nothing has changed in her life. She isnt abused or yelled at. Im getting to the point where I want to yell at her lol. Any advice on how to stop the pooing and whiney barking at night? |
Has your little girl been spayed? If not, could this behavior be related to a first heat cycle? Were there big changes in her schedule during the holiday season that may have thrown off her routine? Did you have a change in visitors or overnight houseguests that may have upset her? I hope you can get some relief soon. |
Has she seen a vet to rule out a medical problem? |
Thanks ladies........I never thought about her going into heat at 8 months. hmmmmm.......wonder if thats whats going on! |

I just had Sophie at the vet last week and she told me that now that she is 8 months old I should watch for her to go into heat. Now here is the hard part. They say you should not have them spayed until they are at least 1 year old. I have a male who is unaltered because he is only 5 months old and they will not do it till he is 6 months old. Hence my problem. I pray she does not go into heat until I can have him neutered. My babies are spoiled :littleangRIP Sophie Lynn Mommy loves and misses you |
