Peeing under chairs This is going to be long...:( Cerise has been using the potty pads accurately for 10 months now, but suddenly she has decided to start peeing under the chairs in the living room...2 and 3 feet away from her potty pad area. I got new carpet at the beginning of November and placed a yoga mat cut in half (both pieces) to make a large square underneath for extra protection. I use four potty pads and make a large area for her. She has been using the pads faithfully until about a week ago. I noticed every day when I come home from work her pads were dry  I take her out every morning when we get up at 6:30am and as soon as I come home around 4:50pm and then once before we go to bed at 9:00pm. This has worked so well until now  Cerise is 17 months old and I have noticed a few temper tantrums lately and the need for extra attention. She travels most places with me (except the grocery store) and when I go out without taking her for the ride I come home to something shredded  Today when I came home I smelled urine for the first time and She saw my face and ran and hid under the chaise lounge. She new I was upset and I know she knew why. I pulled her out and put her in time out (her play pen) instead of taking her out. There was no urgent need because the carpet had a wet warm spot  I got on the carpet and scrubbed and cleaned like a mad woman. Okay YT Aunties and Uncles. Does any experts have any suggestions on how I can resolve this? |
:( So sorry. You should have got wood or laminate floor. ;) I think since you have new carpet you should get the "Little green machine carpet cleaner" I think Bissel makes it. I would start by getting some Nature's Miracle and using that to clean. Do you crate her or gate her in anywhere when you're gone? Can you put the pee pads in the bathroom or somewhere with tile easy to clean floor? |

I did use Natures Miracle...a bunch...because after I got down and started smelling the area I cleaned all around where she has gone. I also have used carpet cleaner and scrubbed. Tomorrow I will clean the area again and spray NM like crazy. She has never been crated before. She does have a doggy play pen but I use it for time outs. I do have a large bathroom that she can be put in, but I have to say I'll be worried about her in there since she is not use to being confined in a closed room. I don't want to make her have anxiety issues. Her tantrums are because she is a bit spoiled  and I don't know how that happened  |
I think I will try one day with her in the bathroom...tomorrow...because starting on Thursday I'll be off until after the New Year to work with her and the potty issues. This will give the carpet some rest and I can keep cleaning too. I will pull up the area and spray NM under as well. |

I would start putting her in the bathroom and gate it off so the door can be left open. When you're not home. Giving them free rein of the house is dangerous because they could chew cords and get shocked, eat plants or sometging else and choke. Could I ask why you give her "time outs?":p Sorry, :( I know it seems like our babies would be happier to have the whole house, but it's really safer for them to be confined when we can't supervise them. Good luck. Hope this helped :) |
I give her time outs for when she is being in one of her bad moods. Like...mommy stopped playing fetch with me, hmmmp, I'll just go and get paper towels out the trash can and shred them up and then bark at her :animal36 So I tell her no , bad girl and put her in time out. Things thing happen when I am washing dishes, or studying and working on my computer. |
