Potty Training woes HELP :-( Ok so Nala is now about 6 months.. I started out doing the crate training method and from what I could tell it was going fine. She was spayed about 2 weeks ago. I am starting to give her more freedom and roaming space without watching her like a hawk. Seems as if its just not working anymore, she goes potty outside when I say go potty and I praise her all the time and treat her most times. Still sometimes she will go under the bed or in the hallway and pee or poop like its nothing.. Its really getting frustrating and disheartening.. Does anyone have ANY advice as to what I should do?! HELP PLEASE |
training Potty training can be frustrating but you have to keep calmly working at it. Sounds like you are doing what you should except maybe not give her so much freedom. Some days I would feel like Belle was really well trained and other days she acted like she had no idea what she was suppose to do. You may need to confine her to a smaller area like the kitchen. I would also use pee pads for a back-up for when she comes in from potty outside but still wants to go inside. Same praise and treats needed. These little ones need patience and consistenancy until they get it right, then they will test you again. It's all part of "bringing up baby". Good luck, you'll get there. |
Taycie did this also. Scheduled feedings and watching how much treats she got helped me a TON! She eats breakfast anywhere between 7 and 8 am and dinner between 5-6 pm. She will poop and potty first thing in the a.m. and then have breakfast. She will sometimes poop again mid morning/afternoon. This all depends if I give her treats and she is playing hard and running like crazy:) Then at dinner time she will go out again, this is NORMALLY when she poops again. Honestly she really only does this about twice a day for her sometimes 3, but this is rare. Scheduled feedings have helped my potty training whoes immensely. As far as potty goes I usually take her out about ever hour to 1 1/2. She will usually always go. These little guys have such tiny bladders:) Also, if you are looking to give more freedom, I would try an x-pen. I did this along with a crate and it really helped a TON! It gave me the option to allow her more freedom and room but I loved it when I couldn't watch her like a hawk so she couldn't sneak off somewhere and have an accident! I hope this helps! Good luck! It does get better! I PROMISE! |
