Which ones do you suggest? I am currently trying something I think is called living stages but he does not go "crazy" for it...In fact, I don't think there's anything I've found that he goes crazy for!

Petsmart carries some training treats - I forget what they're called - that most love. It's been forever since I've bought any.:D

Use cheerios, even.:p

I tried cheerios and peanut butter he dislikes them both!!! I have one picky eater!!

How old is Teddy now?.Lexie is a picky eater too but one treat she really loves is Wellness just for puppy treats, they smell like smoked meat

Then make some homemade treats. :confused: There are some recipes in the thread in the health and diet section. There is a good turkey treat recipe that LuvTaycieGirl posted. I've made that one, too. Just keep looking for the one magic treat that he loves and use it only for training purposes.

He will be 14 weeks on Monday! I will definitely try the Wellness treats...as much as I would love to cook for Teddy I barely have time to cook for myself during the school year. I'd rather spend my free time playing with Teddy then using some of it up for cooking! Perhaps I can get canned chicken from Wellness or something??

Have you tried fruits or veggies? I did some of Kaji's training with tiny pieces of tomato. :) Cheese (mozzarella) is a huge hit here too.

I tried carrots, but had no luck. I will definitely try the tomato...what type of cheese did you use? Isn't there a lot of fat in cheese?

I use mozzarella made with skim milk. It's shredded and I don't give him huge chunks of it either.

Jackson does not like cheerios or peanut butter, either :rolleyes:

I use cheese (those cheese sticks), or chicken for his 'real' food.

Dog treats, I use Canz Real Meat treats. :)

I will have to make a shopping list just for him! Haha. I'm going to try the cheese tomorrow and I think the trainer is bringing chicken and liver...has anyone ever given their yorkie liver?

Kacee hates liver, but Muffin would eat it.:D I understand not having time to cook for them. I can imagine you don't.;)

You never want to physically reprimand your dog, they learn to associate you with bad things and fear you. They then do what you want because they are afraid and not because it makes you both happy and this can lead to worse problems down the road.
Most dogs learn much better with positive reinforcement. You must replace the behavior you don't want with something you do want. For example, puppy is chewing on your favorite shoe- say "no" in a firm manner then give him a proper chew toy then give him a little treat and happy praise "good boy" for chewing on the toy. I took Chibi to petsmart training classes and liked them a lot. I would ask your next trainer if they do "positive reinforcement" training and if not go somewhere else. Was that Petsmart or Petco? My vet suggests petco but I'm not sure. Also were they puppy classes? I am having the same problems with my Teddi (believe it or not). All was going well until I started to use the hand 'nipping' correction and now he barks at me and challenges me more than ever. It's maddening because I just want him to like me. :( He seems to get truly annoyed at me and the last hing I want to do is make him afraid. I want him to know that he is not the alpha but that he is safe and secure as well.
