house training a 1 year old We recently got a yorkie from a friend because the people that had him didn't want him. I don't have a lot of info but they claim he would go outside and inside on pee pads. Yesterday was the first day and he peed everywhere in my house. My question is, could it just be that he's in a new place and nervous or is he not trained very well? I can't deal with many more days of peeing everywhere. I am thinking of putting him a crate and starting over if this continues. Can you start over with a 1 year old? I feel bad for the poor guy since the other family didn't want him but now I'm wondering if the reason they didn't want him was because they didn't train him properly. |

These dogs are very hard to house break. My pitbull (died of HOD, RIP :() was trained by 10 weeks and it was effortless. He was extremely easy to train and well behaved, he was just super intelligent. Cesar was not fully house broken to where he has zero accidents until about 6 or 7 months. He was kettle trained with the same methods I've used on all dogs I've ever owned. I have heard these dogs are very hard to housebreak, but in your case it may have something to do with being in a new place. Cesar will not use the bathroom in the house yet in the petstore he has no problem squatting, and I'm sure if he were to be in a strangers home he would have no problem squatting somewhere in their home as well. |
