My boyfriend and I have been together awhile, but I've only had Levi for about a year. He's man enough to ADORE Levi. He takes him out (even at 6:30 in the morning), proudly takes him to play at the dog park or to the pet store, and bundles him up in a sweater when it's cold before taking him outside. My 21-year-old brother that lives with me does the same things for Levi. I respect them both for being 'manly' enough to love Levi and not be embarrassed by little dogs. They're actually both very proud of him and love to show him off. Oh and my boyfriend? If he wasn't man enough to walk Levi in public, I would give him the boot. Even though he came first. |
Wow. Someone needs to do something with the poor babies. My husband is a combat vet and will do anything for "my" baby. Everything includes dressing him, walking him, playing with him, feeding him and of course, napping on the couch with him. Raley rarely barks. One or both of you need to decide to spend quality time with the furbabies or their behavior will never get better. Good luck to ALL of you! |
Back in October I went to NC to visit my son and grandsons for 3 days – while I was gone the girls got sick, and were sick (super soft stools) for the entire time. My fiancé bathed both girls at least 3 times a day and shampooed the carpets after every accident – this coming from a man who has to leave the room if the cat farts! I’ve got to say I don’t know if I’ve ever loved him more than I do knowing he did all that for OUR girls! |
I think the OP was just hoping one of us would volunteer to take the dogs away from him.:thumbdown |

When you moved in with your fiancee, you did indeed definitately signed up for them. Just as you signed up to share the good, with the bad, the housework, the pooling together of your lives. I don't particularly like the fact you or your fiancee can't walk them, but there a number of solutions that you haven't even considered. First you can play with them indoors, games of fetch, get an agility set, and start having some fun time with your dogs. Hire a dog walker to come daily to give them their walks. You can teach them tricks, there are literally oodles of books and you tubes, on how to do this. Oh and just so you know, a cute Yorkie is the biggest girl draw around, in fact the only person who would think you are "unmanly" is you, trust me no female would. Of course that is a moot point, as you are engaged and living with someone. Beyond exercise and stimulation for your dogs, you need to correct that barking. There are many threads in the training section that talk about how to do this. I leave it to you, to exercise your fingers on the search function, and read some of them, and start to apply those principles. |
1 Attachment(s) A real man isn't judged by the dog he owns or walks. My husband is 6' 2" and 180 pounds. Want to see how much he loves his three Yorkies........take a look at him going up the escalator with "his" girls in a dog stroller. It doesn't get any better than this. My advice to you and your fiance is to get up earlier to walk those babies, or before bed. |

The dogs need to be exercised !!! and spent time with you just cannot ignore them. If you cannot give proper time and attention give dogs to someone who can it is not fair to the dogs they do not deserve that kind of life. I make time to walk patches everyday and play with him you have to want to make the commitment Patches & Winnie |
