peeing on my bed!!!!! :[ soooo alice has started a habbit of peeing on my bed like 30 mins before i want to go to sleep. i have a rabbit who is in my bedroom and alice sleeps on my bed.... (not that i want her too). the reason she does is the fact that one day she decided that her crate wasnt good enough and she barked for 6 hours straight to get out. so because my bf wakes up at 5:30 to go to work every morning he cant have her barking all night. she only will sleep with us. but about a month ago alice has decided that she likes to pee on our bed. the bed use to be on the floor and easy for her to get to. so i bought a tall bed hoping she couldnt jump on it to pee. well she figured out how to get on it after one day and started peeing again. so then i got her spayed thinking that it was hormones. but she is still peeing on the bed!!!!! what the H!!! i'm so frustrated. she doesnt pee on the bed while we are sleeping in it, just in the afternoon / night if i leave the bedroom door open. she wont sleep in her crate at night. but thats not really the issue because of what i said before. do you guys think shes tring to mark her territory because the bun is in the room with us? do you think shes tring to dominate me and my bf? how can i stop this behavior. i only punish her if i catch her in the act. i tell her no and imidiately remove her from the room. i'm at my wits end with the peeing. last night it happened twice! when the bun was staying at a friends last week she didnt pee on the bed, but i dont know if that means anything.... please help anyone with any advice!!! THANKS! |
I'm bumping this up. Maybe someone can help. i would think she still smells the bunny and is marking her territory but I'm not an expert either. |
^thanks, yeah if anyone has any advice im totally willing to try anything! so far the research i have done online about this problem hasnt helped. the only "sulution" ive read is to crate the dog when you sleep, but again, thats not when the issue happens. :[ HELP! |
I'd say close off your bedroom so she doesn't have access until you go in there with her...at least until you can figure out what the problem is. Have you got a baby gate you can put in the doorway? |
That is a tough one. My roommates cat pees on their bed all the time, he has even gone on the spare bed. I think the best idea is what Deuce mentioned, keep her out of the room until you are there to supervise. At least then if she does it you are around to instantly scold her for it. |
Breakfast (and Dinner) in Bed Try feeding meals to her on the bed. Also, when you want to treat her, make her go to your bed and toss the treat on the bed. Dogs don't typically go where they eat. You can use this trick wherever your dog is having accidents. Also, if she is having accidents, she isn't potty trained. Keep her on a strict play, eat, drink, potty schedule and well supervised. Good luck! |
I would also strip your bed and clean all the sheets bedspread, etc. and shampoo the mattress with an enzyme cleaner. She can smell where she went and is going back there. |
ive cleans all the sheets and ive cleaned the mattress as best as possible. its an old mattress so ive been wanting a new one for a while. maybe if i start feeding her on the bed and get a new mattress it will help? i just dont want her to ruin a new mattress if i spend the money to get one. :[ |
I would not start feeding her on the bed! Beds are not places to eat. Besides, a bed is large. She can eat in one corner and pee in the other! I personally think it sounds like she is marking and I would not allow her on my bed unless I was supervising her. I had a female that did that...and she quickly learned that if she did it, I would not let her up there. Put a gate up...or close the door. Your bed should be off limits to her! My pups sleep with me, but when I am not in the bed, they are not either. |
Oh, and purchase a waterproof mattress pad. They have some nice ones at Target that are not plastic. The nasty plastic ones make you sweat. :( I always keep a pad on my mattress....you never know when a pup might get sick! That way you don't have to worry about the mattress! |
My dog sleeps in my bed with me and it sounds like this person's dog does, too. I strongly recommend feeding and treating your dog on the bed. Make it a different spot on the bed each time. My dog had an accident once on my parents' bed. I fed her a few meals and tossed treats up there and she hasn't had another accident since. It is a good idea about getting the waterproof mattress cover. They can be pricey, but it's cheaper than ruining a new mattress. Good luck! |
And I strongly suggest that she not feed the dog on the bed. To each his own, but my bed is not for food. :) |
You only would need to do it a few times. Worked for us. |
