potty training question for 1 year old Hi everyone! Well my dog just turned 1 and he still wont pooh on the pad! Ive tried crate training, locking him in the kitchen, im out of ideas. My one question is do I leave water out for him all day or just give him water at meal time? Thanks for the help! |
pee pads Do you use 1 pee pad or 2? Belle has a pee pad to pee on but she has to have a seperate one to poop on. From several posts of here and else where it seems like several dogs are like this. It took me awhile to figure this out for Belle but we finally did. I leave water out all day for Belle. She has free feeding kibble and needs water after she eats some and also after she chews on her bullie sticks. She sleeps in her crate at night so she doesn't get water then and does fine. Hope I helped some. It takes some time to figure these little ones out. Be sure and reinforce the going pee or poop on the pad with a little treat each time. They relate to treats quite well.;) |
I have exactly this same issue. Jade is 1 year old and it seems that she prefers to pee on the potty pad but she will pooh like 3 inches from it. I do tell her pooh on the potty pad and she just looks at me. Very few times she will do it on the potty pad but not often enough. Treats definitely are the way to go with these dogs. Everytime she pees on the potty pad she comes to get me so she can have a treat. |
Your dog should always have fresh water available to drink. I don't use pee pads so I can't help you there. |
