My dog won't stop whining? My 3 and a half month old female yorkie, Stitch, won't stop whining whenever I'm not around. I keep her in my room and let her roam the hallways (never let her in the living room/kitchen alone), and she has a kong, balls, squeaky toy and a little toy rabbit and this little fake bone with treats on it. Everytime I'm out of the room, she starts to whine and bark a bit. And it's only been the third day she's with us. I'm trying to spend maximum 30 minutes a day with her alone so she'll get used to the fact I won't be here all the time because next week school is starting and I can't be there for her except for morning, lunch and afternoons. |
Well, it's only been 3 days, so I think her behavior is normal. She will learn that you will come back. You may want to teach her that you'll return by telling her each time you leave her - whether to go to another room or to leave the house - that you will be right back. Just say each time, "I'll be back." Say that each time. Eventually, she will learn that you will return.:) |
Something I tried when we brought home our Golden Ret. puppies, was to put a clock that ticks near their bed. They are use to laying on each other and feel and hear the other heartbeats and this will help soothe them. The clock you need is like the Big Bens. Walmart sells one kind of like this, as long as it has the ticking sound. Good luck, I know she will come around, and she sounds like she is a very lucky little girl to have a great mom like yourself..... |
