Funny way of training! 1 Attachment(s) So I just brought home a 3 month old girl....and figured it was going to be so tough to train her on the pad. Well was I wrong! I am trying the crate training way and that seems to work but the best part is how she learned to use the pad. when i leave her alone in a small area with the pad, i walk away and she freaks out :(...she starts to cry and go crazy. well she then runs over to the pad and goes!!!!!! :D after i realized what she did I was like this is perfect. So now when i want her to go to the bathroom, i gate her up and pretend to walk away. as soon as she can't see me she crys and runs. I wait a few secs and then peak in to see if shes on pad, when she is I say potty and get all exciting and praise her a lot! so far 2 days it has worked!!!! i figured maybe it will work for someone else. i am completly shocked by this lol. my last yorkie was so hard to train. |

Hope she continues the good work. |
She is SO cute! At Yorkie Camp, Tallulah has been 100% accurate using the pads for several days. She learned by example from the other dogs. At home, not so much. She KNOWS she's supposed to use the pad. But for the last 3 days she has looked at the pad, then walked away and gone on the tile just a couple of feet away. This started right after I started using a mop to clean up her oopsies and has gotten worse. My theory is that she has so much fun attacking the mop that she is deliberately trying to make me get it out more often. I'm going back to paper towels and rags -- see if she reverts back to her good behavior. |
She is really a cutie! I say whatever works, do it. I hope it continues and she doesn't figure out that you're coming back anyway.:D |
as of today that failed. i spoke to soon :( its so frustrating!!!! |
Keep trying- it will come! :) |
Yay! That is awesome!! What a cutie! |

Seriously, though, she really is a tiny baby and has done pretty darn good so far. Congratulations on your new cutie pie! |

Yes - I agree. I start out with paper towels and then floor cleaner. I follow up with the mop, then I spray urine-gone for extra measure. One of George's objections to getting a dog after Bungee died was the "mess" -- Bungee shed more hair than any dog I have ever seen, and by the end of the day, there would be drifts of hair everywhere. I have been making a special effort to make sure there are no doggy odors as well as trying to keep things extra clean since Tallulah can find the tiniest speck of dirt to munch on. |

One advise that my trainer gave me is never to clean up when they see you. They pee so they can see you clean up. Put your puppy in another room first and then clean up. They associate the peeing with you giving all the attention to it. Maria |
